Drove all the way from the city on New Year’s Day. Always enjoyed the one in the city on Beach Dr. Was very disappointed on the over cooked fried chicken & smoked porkchop. They were chewy and dried out on both meats. Corn bread was dried too. Black eye peas and collards were good. I hope they can work on the fried chicken & porkchop. Should have stuck with PoFolks, our original plan.

I go every Monday for beef tips overs rice, very filling, Fridays they got the best fried chicken in town. Stay away from the cajan 15 bean side… their all mine.
Update: Big Mommas is now open for brunch and the chicken and waffles will be winning awards

Ordered the chicken because it’s on the menu everyday. Very disappointed in what I got. Overcooked and tasted old and greasy. The okra was not edible very dry and tasted like it sat under a heat lamp all day. Will not be back. Could not believe they would such. I actually felt sick after trying to eat this.

Great place. Glad to see they have a decent place finally in Southport for lunch. Wish they did breakfast during the week.

I had the fish and shrimp dinner – grilled. It was very well seasoned and huge portions. The sides were cheese grits and pea salad. They have a long list of sides that change slightly during the week. The cheese grits were the best I’ve ever had! Service was great!

Had a To Go order, my food was hastily thrown together, and the gravy leaked all over the bag and my vehicle. I also ordered cheese grits and when I got home, grits is what I got. Unfortunately I guess the shine of being out here in Southport has worn off. I will now make the drive into Lynn Haven when I treat myself to eating out. The food wasn’t bad, just disappointed. Hope things get better because it was a blessing that we had a restaurant this far out.

While I have always enjoyed eating at Big Mama’s on the bayou, we thought we would try Big Mama’s in Southport for our family dinner night. A big disappointment had dinner there this past Wednesday night. One of their specials was country fried steak, the steak was about the size of a hamburger. Patty, I will say the greens were delicious. Mashed potatoes were cold and the cornbread was so hard. You could hardly even eat it. If going for this kind of food I will go to po folks before I drive all the way out here.

We were excited to try this place out. Not sure why all of the great reviews are on here. It was like eating prison Food. So bad and right out of a box. I’m a country girl and I’m super familiar with country cooking and this isn’t it. Overpriced boxed frozen crap. Service was poor at best and the place is dirty.

Small town country cooking! Our second visit and everything has been great both times. Smoked pork chop and country fried steak were both great. Can’t beat the fried shrimp on Fridays!
