Quiet, family friendly atmosphere with some of the coolest antiques to look at! We ordered breakfast and burgers and WOW, it was DELISH!! Oh, and SAVE ROOM for the homemade cherry pie!! Our waitress was SO super sweet!! Highly Recommend!!

Biscuits are super dense, need more butter when making them. Scrambled eggs are country scrambled, not true scrambled eggs. Otherwise everything was good. Biscuit gravy had nice chunks of sausage and bacon in it. Chicken strips were great.

We are here from Texas, always looking for some good Tex-mex food. This place has some delicious Huevos Rancheros! You don’t need to order bacon on the side or potatoes. It comes with rice and beans, crispy corn tortilla with hamburger meat and beans topped with eggs and ranchero sauce. Be sure to ask if you order extra sauce or meats, what the up charge is! Waitress is so sweet and and attentive.

It has been many years since I’ve been here. Big changes and love the retro look and feel. The service was top notch and the food…. where to start. The Mexican food I ordered was excellent both in the amount and flavor. The onion rings are made on the spot fresh, YUMMY, best onion rings in the Valley in my opinion. My other half ordered the Original Philly and was larger then anticipated. Was good but a tad salty, I took a bite and agreed. Wait staff was excellent and not over bearing, 2 thumbs up there. I would recommend this place as a nice place and you get good food and is priced right. My food was worthy of tipping not only the wait staff but the cook got a tip personally delivered.

Big Lake family restaurant has become a staple of Big Lake to me. Having lived here for many years, I’ve been to the restaurant countless times and have never been disappointed. They have a very extensive menu with something for everyone, and the food quality is amazing. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty chill as well, making every experience enjoyable overall.

Okay, this place has great food!!! Great service but the facility is a little dilapidated. The bathroom are the worst in so many ways. But the food and prices are amazing. I’m going back !!! Their breakfast can last you an entire day. 5 guys ate gigantic amazing breakfasts for $80.

The food was good. The service was horrible!! Its took us 1.5 hours for a pty of 3, and they were not packed. We had breakfast here yesterday, and it was decent. Today was a joke! The young waitress, with the green hair was friendly and on the ball, but the older Mexican lady was a mess – All 3 of the tables around us were complaining, and having to argue with her over the bill. She got my order wrong – I ordered the CF Skillet with home fries and onions, but she brought out the omelette with hash browns instead. Fine, I told her it was fine, I’d eat it. “NO! She said, dont touch it! That’s someone else’s food!! I’ll go get yours.”
So she takes the plate away. Finally, 18 min later, she returns with my food. My husband is long finished with his food by now, except she forgot his pancakes, and our toast. She brings those, and it’s clear now that she’s mad at us, because she screwed up my order – GREAT! Why is it so hard for people to say, “I’m sorry, let me fix that for you.” But no…. she’s mad at us, because she messed up the order, and now she’s embarrassed. So for the rest of the meal, she refuses to come back – We have to try and flag down different servers to get a soda refill, and again to get a to-go box, and again to get our check. Then we waited another 20 minutes for someone to come collect our credit card – Finally, my husband walked up, and found someone to take our payment.
TLDR: Drive in to Mat-Su Family Restaurant, or try Denali – This place is just too hit/miss.

My first time dinning at the big Lake Family Restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably, one of the best Country Fried Steaks I’ve ever ordered. The mashed potatoes and gravy are the closest to homemade you’ll find eating out (I think they are homemade for the record) My wife ordered a Rubin Sandwich. She says it was delicious as well.
Cute place with all the old time decor, a few of the things I spotted, I played with, as a little boy. I’m certain this will become a regular stop when we visit Alaska, ( 3 or 4 times a year right now till we build our retirement home soon )
