Insane restaurant. We’ve been coming here for years and the quality just keeps getting better and better. The food is flavored to the bone, the customer service is great, the prices are fair…..literally no complaints. Highly recommend their oxtail and grits and Caribbean boy dish. And if you get the wings, get them garlic parm x mango habanero mixed (recommended by a server). BJE is a must stop anytime we’re in Palm Beach!

Wow! The chicken and waffles here are incredible. The fried chicken had the perfect amount of spice, and the waffles had strawberries and blueberries they paired perfectly with the maple syrup. The texture balance between the crunchy chicken and soft
waffles was spot on. A must-order!
French toast plate was nice and fluffy and delicious! AMAZING STAFF

Big John’s Eatery — A Curator’s Take

Big John’s Eatery delivers hospitality at a level that feels almost ceremonial. From the moment I sat down, the service was attentive, intuitive, and genuinely warm—I was quite literally waited on hand and foot. A standout touch? Being invited to taste-test the grits before committing. That alone signals confidence in the kitchen and respect for the diner’s palate.

Now, about those grits. As someone who is decidedly not a cheese lover, I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese is finely grated and incorporated during the milling process, which creates a seamless, almost invisible flavor profile—no sharp bite, no heaviness, just depth and creaminess that reads as intentional rather than indulgent.

The shrimp leaned slightly toward overcooked, but remained edible and well-supported by toppings that added brightness and zest, rescuing the bite and keeping the dish balanced. The portion of grits was generous—very generous—prompting me to add a side of chicken sausage, which arrived seasoned to perfection and paired beautifully with the richness of the plate.

For drinks, I opted for the bottomless mimosas, served in a take-glass rather than the standard presentation. Worth noting: real juice isn’t used, so for someone who doesn’t typically consume alcohol above a 10% volume, the mimosas came across quite strong. Ordering a side of juice ($3.99) helped tailor the experience, but it’s an important consideration for lighter drinkers.

Final Verdict:
Big John’s Eatery excels where it matters most—service, intention, and flavor integration. With a few refinements (particularly protein cook times and beverage balance), this spot confidently earns its place as a curated brunch destination. The grits alone are reason enough to return.

Chicken and waffles 15/10. The baked chicken was cooked to perfection & the waffles were delightful. The shrimp and grits were delicious The passionfruit mimosa was the cherry on top. Everything was good good! The owner stopped at every table checking on the customers. Dani our server was AWESOME!!! Highly Recommend!!!

Saw this place on TikTok decided to check them out. They are far from me but since I was in the area decided to stop by. Hostess very nice. They were very busy. But was seated within 10 minutes. Waitress sounded like she was high Lol but still she got our orders correctly. Overall the service was good and food was very tasty. The lemonade was definitely made from scratch.

My wife and I usually check out YouTube reviews before visiting a new city so we can have a great food experience. Unfortunately, this spot was a huge letdown.

It took over 35 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the kids’ tenders and waffle meal and the French toast combo. A table that came in 15 minutes after us received their food right away—and based on their friendly exit with the staff, it’s safe to assume they knew someone.

The food itself was disappointing:
• The waffle triangles were hard and flavorless, with ice-cold syrup.
• The tenders were served cold.
• The add-on potatoes were the only highlight—delicious.
• The French toast? Not even worth reviewing.

My wife (who is pregnant) and I try to be patient with restaurants, but between the wait, the food quality, and the hype around this place, I can’t recommend it.

The only positive—our waitress was great.

Go at your own risk.

Big John’s Eatery hit the spot. I didn’t eat everything on the menu, but I could have. The oxtail and grits were a perfect combination. They were seasoned to perfection, the oxtail was so tender, and the grits were so creamy, together it just melted in your mouth Peach cobbler is my favorite dessert to say the least the peach cobbler French toast was on point! Also, the chicken & red velvet waffles were everything I imagined it to be. The chicken was hot, fresh, and flavorful, and the waffles, drizzled with cream cheese (whew), were so fluffy there was no need for syrup. And I washed it all down with a passion fruit mimosa. This place is a whole vibe, the music was nice, and the wait staff was pleasant. The owner is very nice, he came out to every table to ask how we enjoyed our meal. I will definitely be returning

Yesterday was my first time eating there, and let me just say… I’m already planning my return! The owner was incredibly kind, the hostess was full of energy. And the food? Well… THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. Every bite felt like a personal love letter to my taste buds. I genuinely can’t wait to go back!
