I patronize this place 2-3 times a week and never had an issue.And im pretty sure im known because he knew to put my onions on the side. But tonight they sold me some bullshit..A pound of Catfish Steaks and a side of fries which they never came in the same container since I been going there..Although he said bring it back.. I stay in North County and why should I waste my gas taking it back when they knew it wasn’t right..I usually don’t post but to disrespect me selling me some trash, lets me know they dont care about their customers..I will be returning that shit back to them on Tuesday

First timer. Always heard great things about this establishment so I had to check it out. Drive-thru service. Plenty of options to choose from. Ordered the shrimp, catfish & chicken combo with fries. I had no idea the shrimp were that big! The wait wasn’t long, the food was super fresh and the aroma was amazing. They provided plenty condiments. Everything was cooked to perfection, not too hard, not too salty. A lot of food left over.

I’ve supported Big Jay’s Fish & Chicken for a while now. The food is decent, the prices are high, and I’ve always made a point to support it because it’s Black-owned. But my most recent experience was unacceptable and might be the last.
I called to ask about the shrimp specials. The woman who answered didn’t sound familiar and gave a long, unclear response. When I asked for clarification, she snapped, “I said TUE, WED, and THUR,” with a clear attitude. It was unnecessary and unprofessional.
Instead of continuing the call, I went to the restaurant, hoping to speak with someone in charge. The moment I walked in, the same woman loudly called my name like she knew me. I hadn’t even approached the counter. I asked if everything was okay — her response was giggling and more offhanded comments, like the situation was a joke.
I asked who the manager was. She laughed again and said, “my uncle,” clearly implying nothing would come of it.
Here’s the truth: businesses don’t lose customers over food — they lose them over bad customer service. And unfortunately, this is a pattern in too many Black-owned businesses: rude staff, no accountability, and inflated prices that don’t match the overall experience.
Big Jay needs to address this before the wrong staff member ruins what could be a great business. If this is the kind of service being allowed, I won’t be back — and I won’t recommend it to anyone else either.

Hands down one of the best spots around. The food was incredible — everything fresh, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. The staff was super friendly and made the whole experience feel personal. The vibe was great too — chill, welcoming, and exactly the kind of place you want to come back to. Definitely recommend checking it out if you love good food and good energy!

This was my 1st time eating at this black owned business. Let me just warn you…The parking lot is greatly in need of repair. The potholes right here is equivalent to the ones on Kingshighway, so be careful.
The food is delicious. I got the fish (swai), chicken & shrimp combo & the tripe sandwich (fried med), I forgot to take a pic. My total was $29.
Everything was seasoned just right & everything had its own seasoning. I know y’all have ate at a fish & chicken place & they use the same seasoning on everything. Well not here! I only have 2 complaints. My tripe was too thin & too hard, although I asked for it to be fried medium & I said it twice. Everything else was fried to perfection & not greasy. My second complaint which is really on me but I wish it was posted somewhere…the fish, chicken, & shrimp combo doesn’t come with a side & with my 1 combo & 1 sandwich, with no side, that’s a little steep.
However, I still gave them 5 stars because the chicken was seasoned to the bones lol

Always a great experience! Chicken Always good. Got the fish po boy for the first time, they forgot my tartar sauce on it, fish was good though, seasoned..just it had bones and I almost had a situation. But other than that, food was good!

Listen to me ! This food is phenomenal, don’t walk run ♀️! The shrimp is so big heavy on the jumbo the catfish is chefs kiss! and in a time where everything is priced so ridiculously expensive they are not !!! $6.99 for a special with a drink and fries. The fries aren’t anything special but they’re not the main character anyways go go go ! I’m going right now lbfs !

This was my first visit to Big Jay’s. The lot and lobby area were clean which is my first observation everywhere I go. The prices are reasonable and my food was cooked to order in such a timely manner. I got a lunch combo of 2 Whiting filets with fries and a soda of my choice was included. I also took advantage of the Tuesday special $.99 jumbo shrimp. Pickles, onions, bread, hot sauce, ketchup, and tartar!
