Big J’s is the perfect example of THE hometown burger/fast food joint. My wife worked here for 4 years when she was a teenager, and still comes here willingly for her hometown favs.
I’ve tried a variety of things on the menu, and they’re all solid! Big shoutout to the soft and crisp bean burritos, double cheeseburgers, crispy chicken Malibu, and the shakes.
The staff is well-trained, friendly, sharp, and come around with a bowl full of candy while you’re finishing your meal. The food always comes out hot and quick, even if the dining room is full. And that’s saying something, because I’ve never been here when there’s less than 20 people — it’s always busy, which means you know it’s good!
If you’re passing through Preston, you MUST come eat here! 100% certain you’ll love it and be back soon.

Big J’s was phenomenal. We’re not from the area, so this was our first visit, and it exceeded expectations. The fries and shakes were excellent, and the burger was exactly what you’d hope for from a classic American diner. The service was truly outstanding. They made our family’s food to order without hesitation, even with several special requests, and everything came out incredibly fast. Every staff member was smiling and genuinely pleasant. It was a truly lovely experience, and if we’re ever back in the area, we’ll absolutely return.

I was driving through town on my way to Murdock Hyundai, and I saw this burger business out of the corner of my eye, so I stopped and turned around to go back. I parked down the street to read the reviews first. It appears that the reviews were telling the truth.
I was helped by Nannette and her very nice trainee. Both of the friendly, courteous, and great smiles. Big J has a great menu to choose from, and I made things easy on myself by getting a burger.
I thought I’d be able to eat this burger on the go. I was wrong, I had to stop in a parking lot miles away to eat the burger. I should have just eaten it at the restaurant, but I knew if I was in this place any longer than necessary, then my fat ole self would have ordered a shake or some kind of treat. No, I had to get out of there. Haha.
The place was neat and clean. I thanked them for having a spotless restroom, and I’m assuming good customers respect a clean restroom and also help to keep it that way.
Overall? I’ll be back if I come through these parts again.

Self serve ordering kiosks for the win. They brought out our shakes and fries in less time than it took my wife to order. Endless options on the menu and everything is top tier for fast food. If I ever hear you are disrespectful to the staff, so help me, I will find out where you live, shave your dog or cat, and deposit the hair in your ice maker.

I’ve lived in Preston for 28 years and have eaten here many times. I can count on one hand how often my order has been messed up or I’ve received a subpar meal. The food is always fresh and served quickly, and the employees are consistently friendly. It’s definitely a fast-food staple in Preston.

This place has really good burgers. I stopped here for lunch. One of the employees said the Big J burger was good. I ended up ordering the triple patty Big J Burger. This burger was very good. There is a slice of cheese for every patty. The burger isn’t greasy. The bun holds up and doesn’t get soggy. The employees are very nice and they will come around to clear your plate and give you a mint. The fries are made fresh when you order. They are also very good. The inside of the place looks funky. Kind of like a pizza for a kids birthday party.

Been having some really bad issues with drive thrus lately. This wasn’t one of them! Great food, great people. I’ve eaten here twice in my travels and will definitely come back again.
The food is awesome, but I keep settling on the Big J combo. Food is always fresh and hot and each time and the place is packed. It’s understandable with this kind of food, service and pricing. Great value for all you get and well worth a short wait in line.

The shake they gave me was supposed to be chocolate and I clarified multiple times that the ice cream base was chocolate and they still gave me vanilla. I also encountered that the server: Katy (Sheila) R was very ignorant towards me and I feel the service was not good at all. I’ve been here many times and always enjoy my experience except for this specific time.

I’ve driven all across this country and Big J is a jewel, a rare original hometown mom n pop burger joint, but up to all the modern standards, including remote ordering online and pickup/carryout. They also have a seating area and a drive thru. The food is made fresh and made fast and it’s good. There’s burgers, sandwiches, shakes, even pizza and soups. Worth a stop whether you’re a regular from town or a tourist passing through.

This place seems like it’s packed all the time, so, just know there will be a wait for your food. We waited about 15 minutes for ours. Also, be careful of the cars in the drive through, the main entrance is located in a weird place as to make people and cars interact in a way that could get science hit by a car.
