Big Hammock Brewery & Bites is an excellent spot for a laid-back meal and a great beer. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with a comfortable setup that works for groups or just hanging at the bar. The beer selection is impressive and everything I tried tasted fresh and well-crafted. Food was better than typical “brewery bites” too—hot, flavorful, and generously portioned for the price. Staff were upbeat and attentive, and service stayed quick even when it was busy. Easy place to recommend if you want good drinks, good food, and a fun vibe.

Nice place, great service, but ok ramen…
My partner and I saw photos of their ramen in the reviews and decided to give this place a try as it looked very good. The workers were very welcoming. However, the ramen did not taste that great. The miso had an over salty and odd flavor. The vegetables and sides were also just raw and bland. Overall it tasted like a very American style ramen.

I heard good things about this spot and went on a Friday to check it out- it was so packed we couldn’t get in! Went again on a Tuesday and was able to get in. Great food, great service- completely understand why it was so busy! The bao was excellent and so was the ramen. I did miss the MSG in the ramen, but you can’t get that everywhere. Overall would recommend

I don’t mess woth ramen or bao buns ot whatever but this place had an incredible rice bowl. Highly recommend doubling up with chicken and pork belly. You’ll die. It’s better than a thing your wife makes. Also the manager/owner was super cool and had a beer with me while I waited.

Excellent food and service even close to the end of the night. Best ramen ive had in the area, quality noodles and a great protein selection. Clean restroom and dining area, 10/10 experience.

We are not from Ocala, we traveled from Lake Mary to check out a kayak and horseback riding tour over at Zip the Canyon which is about 15-20 min away from this spot. Our kayak tour guide, recommended we check out Ocala Square in between tours to grab lunch. A quick google search revealed Big Hammock Brewery & Bites as having one of the highest rates for reviews so we decided to check it out.

Don’t let the menu fool you- it might look simple from the way it’s printed but the flavor and quality is anything but. Our server recommended the scallion pancake with roast beef. Jaw dropping. It doesn’t even need the sauce, the cheese and the onion and the meat packed all the flavor I needed. The consistency of the scallion pancake, crispy, flaky and flavorful. I was hanging on every bite. I savored the taste in my mouth even after the meal was done. Not many menu items I can say have given me that experience but it was that good. My fiance ordered the rice bowl with chicken. He’s a big sauce guy and LOVED the sauce on this one. It hit. The chicken was juicy and not overcooked and he couldn’t get over how fresh the rice seemed. He’s not a veggie guy but he ate the peppers and some of the broccoli without complaint (he’s been trying to eat healthier which is why he left the dish as is) the bowl was basically inhaled.

He even tried some of my dish and was amazed in agreement at how good it was.

The vibe is lively. Service was great. We don’t drink so I can’t comment on the beverages. Super cute spot with a menu that is worth way more than the price. It was the perfect compliment to an already incredible day.

Thank you! If we are ever in Ocala again, we will not forget this place! Keep up the great work

I’ve come here a couple times and never been disappointed. Today we came for lunch. Had pot stickers and make your own ramen. They were both awesome. Great place to have a quick heavy meal and couple of drinks.

Amazing food, great service. The pork is to die for! You can’t go wrong w anything you order here. The Bao Buns were delicious, just wish they had more pork because it was amazing !!! My fiancé enjoyed the pork ramen. Great flavors and spicy enough to not need extra red pepper / sriracha added.
The beer was alright, they only brew one triple over here but they have a decent selection of Florida beers. They were lukewarm but it’s alright, the food makes up for anything

Such a great brewery and ambiance. Our server was great and gave us amazing suggestion – including their special of the day. Drove from Naples to St Augustine so this was a great half-point when avoiding the I-4 nonsense. Food was so good, their sandwiches highly recommend!

It’s a pleasant spot with reasonable service and good beer. The broth less “ramen”is best avoid. The miso butter is flavorless and the bok choy is the last inch of the bok choy that usually gets cut off and discarded. Perhaps the rest of the food is better, but we were disappointed.
