Saw this place was in a phamplet in Franklin. I have a relative and another friend that likes cider so I stopped by but they have very limited hours in winter …couple days a week. I had returned to my car and was pulling off when I saw someone come out of another building and go to the entrance. I pulled up and asked if he worked here. He said he did and was the cider maker/owner. They did not open for another couple hours. I asked who sold his product in town and he listed a couple places. I said I was going to go and buy some. I was pulling off when he said ‘if you are wanting to purchase a couple bottles come on in’. He gave me a quick cider tutorial and explained his ciders. Even gave me a taste of what he had in tap. So nice and did not have to do that. His place was tastefully decorated. Can’t wait to check them out when they are open.

I adore Monterey and I adored Big Fish! Samantha on staff was so friendly and knowledgeable, she made our visit even more fun. The ciders are SO local. Not only delicious and unique drinks, but sweet knowing the apples come from our local counties and support local farmers. Awesome gift selection of ciders as well. Tap room and the adjacent space are beautiful and welcoming. I’ll be back with friends!

Big fish cider is a must-visit. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. A flight tasting revealed a variety of flavors, from complex and rich off-dry cider to a refreshing semi-sweet cider. The cider maker’s passion and expertise are evident in every sip. It was a delightful experience and a place to return to.

Hip little establishment, tastefully decorated, and easily located.
Jessa is the consummate host, bar none; friendly, informative and receptive without being intrusive or overbearing.
Such a wonderful first visit! Enjoying good local products in a tasteful atmosphere doesn’t have to wreck your budget, and this place is proof.
Take it from an Appalachian boy who grew up making cider: Big Fish ciders are authentic, impressive, and worth the drive.

The only place open on Sunday in Monterey, or in miles around. We were vacationing on a farm via Airbnb, and decided to get out to check it out. We enjoyed a flight, sitting down in this shop with a small town atmosphere with enough tables to accommodate at least 5 parties. Good service. Recomended, even if you never considered cider as your preferred drink, you can find some of their craft versions with a twist of your like.

Great place!!!! Owner knows his cider well. It’s most helpful when doing a tasting to have someone explain how each cider is made and the ingredients used. The stories about how the apples are obtained were very entertaining. Some of the best cider we’ve had. From dry to sweet its all good!

Fantastic ciders in the most beautiful town in VA! Staff recommended the Wild Meadow cider to me and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Tangy wild apple flavor with a hint of floral really hit the spot!

The BEST cider in Virginia hands down. I know my cider, this is the best. Owner is a fellow fly fisherman to boot. Every cider from the Big Fish blows me away. Amazingly friendly staff as well. I live three hours away but for Big Fish that’s nothing. I’d drive across the country just for one bottle. Bless
