Also, nearly forgot, they had live music. Two sets that we were there for the first being a Tennessee Jazz sound the second was more country soul. Very nice mood!
We ended up speaking to the manager to say how amazing Joanne was!
Service – It was fine. Not the friendliest but not bad. That said, despite it being not very busy, I was given the wrong person’s meal, and when they took it back, it took another 8 minutes to get mine and my brother’s meals. Ouch. They were apologetic though, and not overly, so it was handled well after. Other than that, fine, although they did come to ask for orders a bit too soon.
Atmosphere – Hey, pretty good! Facing out into the rest of Bluewater certainly isn’t ideal for atmosphere, but it was fairly solid. They had 2 musicians, a pianist/singer, and a drummer, who were quite good. Outside that, the music playing before and after was, good, but that’s up to personal preference. The aesthetics were also neat, again, nothing mind-blowing but good.
To sum it up, I, truthfully, wouldn’t say this is my first recommendation for American (especially not after the glorious new Smokehouse we vistwdast month, certainly a tough act to follow). It’s not awful though, and again, I feel this is very important to say, I did NOT try the seafood AT the seafood place, so do take this with a grain of salt.
The food was great, I had the seafood boil which was piping hot, had a good number of prawns and tasty sauce. The rib tips to start were hot and fall off the bone tender which is exactly what you’d expect from a place like this. The young man serving us was excellent, attentive and came up with recommendations to upsell which did work
All in all a great meal out this time round
Thanks for today – we had an amazing time and great food. Special shout out to the Portuguese lady (that used to be a chef) she was so lovely!
Thanks Big Easy! ♥️
Other than the gravy being bit weird, I thoroughly recommend it and will be back!
The place has 2 levels. We sat upstairs because that’s where the Live band was playing. The atmosphere reminds me of a Texan or New Orleans vibe. The ambience was great and our server was very charismatic. The singer in the band was awesome. They play Live music every night.
We ordered some Voodo wings (of course) to start with. They were meant to be spicy but they weren’t . For our mains, my husband had the 1/2 Peri-Peri Chicken and paired with trufle mash and trufle mac and cheese. The potatoes were nice and creamy with amazing flavor. The mac was really cheesy/saucy but the pasta was a bit undercooked and needed a pinch more of salt. The chicken was not flavorful at all. We were expecting for the chicken to have some chargrilled marks since the chain is known for their BBQ, and for the meat to really be soft and tender but it wasn’t. My husband said we’ll take it home and asked me to do my magic on the chicken (which I did). I had the lobster bake that comes with potatoes, mussels, clams, 1 shrimp and a 1/2 lobster. You can get this dish with a hot and spicy sauce or creamy white. I selected the latter. It was very delicious. The potatoes cooked well, not overly cooked. The only disappointing thing is that there was only 1 jumbo shrimp .
We had some cocktails. I had the Big Easy Rum Punch and they didn’t disappoint. Hubby had the Rum Capirinha and it had a major kick. IYKYK. Lastly, we tried some Picklebacks…we’ve never had pickled infused shots. We tried the Chilli Back and Hot Smoke…hubby didn’t like them because of the spicyness but I LOVED the Hot Smoke…a mix between salty, pickled, and liquor. Thumbs up for me.
Overall, nice ambience but a bit on the pricy side.
Cost= £165
The only reasoning for a 4/5 star is the fact the Bar.B.Q was very oily for what’s considered BBQ food and it came out lukewarm. A shame as the meats themselves were very good as well as the gravy. Would be a 5/5 if the food came out warmer, especially as being a big sharing platter so it would’ve allowed the food to not be as cold as quick due to the portion size.
However someone else in the group got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and really enjoyed it. Service was great as the hot sauce was put to the side separately in case of the hot sauce being too hot.
Thanks again big easy 🙂
