Really cute LBI ice cream shop with so many flavors and also froyo. $7 for a single scoop but you truly get a pint’s worth of ice cream. The death by chocolate was divine!! No samples because it’s such a busy shop – but every ice cream flavor my group had was so good!

I remember going to the Big Dipper years ago as a kid. It hasn’t changed much, and that’s a good thing! They still have awesome ice cream options, quick service, and a friendly staff. And the serving sizes are very generous! For us, a single scoop was more than enough…just as I remember years ago.
Prices were reasonable, and they accept credit cards. We arrived and the line was out the door and almost around the corner, but we were served in a little over 10 minutes. Make sure to bring some cash for tipping the servers who are college students on summer break.
Hope they continue to keep this LBI staple going years to come!

The serving sizes here are simply insane. One scoop of ice cream is huge. The smoothness and quality of the food was great and we enjoyed it immensely. Great treat to end the day after a hot day. Lots of variety in flavor as well, totally worth a visit

I took my husband here as a part of introducing him to all thing LBI. I told him The Big Dipper is a must when it comes to ice cream on the island. And of course, it did not disappoint!
While I normally get a cone or cup when I visit, we decided to share the Sand Castle sundae which was huge (like ALL of their servings), but so good!
We enjoyed eating it outside on the uncrowned benches as the sun set on Sunday evening while we watched vacationers drive home. Perfect ☺️

This place is great for ice creams. Like their choices of ice cream but not sure if their milkshake are good. I had one and prefer ice cream over it. They give decent size of ice cream which will make you full. If you not a big eater, order one between two people. Live their coconut and chocolate death flavor.

Big Dipper is exactly what an ice cream spot should be…great flavors, generous portions, and fair prices. I saw some reviews complaining that they give too much ice cream, which honestly feels insane in today’s world where everything is getting more expensive. For around seven dollars, you get a massive cone that’s absolutely worth it. In my opinion, there’s no such thing as too much ice cream. They offer a wide variety of flavors, both soft and hard, and they do let you sample if it’s not too crowded. The ice cream itself is excellent, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

I have not been back in about five years, but this is always been my favorite place for an after dinner treat. Or even in the afternoon.
Was disappointed to see that it was listed as temporarily closed when I was googling it. But decided to walk down a couple blocks anyhow.
Was happily rewarded to find that was open moderately crowded but again the service is quick. Had a single scoop of coffee and chocolate peanut butter ice cream that’s as big as your head. Great ice cream. Great value. Happy servers. Highly recommended.
