This is the first time having actually been to the facility. We catered from them for Project SEARCH last yr. And have had their catering at other events. I won a gift card and had lunch with my hubby. We split the slider sampler and a side of mac. Was perfect for him and I for a light but filling lunch.

A bunch of my retired friends meet once a month for lunch at varied restaurants in the area and we decided on Big Boar for August. Been to Big Boar several times so this time I wanted to try something different. I decided on one of my favorites at any restaurant, hot beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. I enjoyed it very much. I loved the smoky flavor of the beef with the savory gravy. Potatoes were a bit runny but overall I really enjoyed the meal. Judging by the positive comments from my friends, everyone else enjoyed their meal as well.

Perfect Takeout! Yum! Good atmosphere, but the best aspect is the food. Had the pulled pork, it was really really good (even without the sauce–they have 4 different kinds that you can use to complement). All the rest was on point. Again, Perfect Takeout. Awesome food. Great sweet potato fries. Just perfect. Craft beer available.

Big Boar was fantastic today. Myself and my wife had the brisket Philly great sandwich meat was to die for. The sides Mac and Cheese , garlic mash, and homecut fries rocked. We took a friend with and she had chicken sandwich and loved it.

Stopped by this place on a road trip. The pulled pork was good but not great. The chicken, fries and burgers were awesome Hit the spot for sure. With rising prices these days, this place is very reasonable.

Ordered two pulled pork and rib platters and everything was excellent. The meats were tender, juicy, and flavorful. Really good corn muffins and fries for the sides. Plenty of food. Friendly and helpful service. Great restaurant right here in West Salem. Thank you.

The portions are good and the food is great every time. My family from out of town like to pick up food from Big Boar every time they visit. I had been to Big Boar several times from 2018-2019 and was never very impressed by it. I was only mildly aware that it was under different ownership and didn’t try going back until 2025. I wish I had given it a chance sooner.

One of Wisconsin’s best kept secrets! If you’re looking for that salt of the earth, KC style north of the border then look no further. By far some of the best brisket and pulled pork I’ve ever had. Top it off with homemade sides and you’ve got yourself one very fine BBQ experience, all in a friendly patriotic atmosphere. North of KC, it just doesn’t get any better!

In fact, it’s really not even BBQ. KC native here – I’ve eaten my weight in burnt ends. These were like roast. No real BBQ flavor. The sauces were lacking. Two were quite mustardy. Ice tea was out of the pop machine, not fresh brewed.
Beans were quite meh. I can make better out of a can on the stove. Would not return. Two stars only because the service was so friendly.
