It’s always the quiet ones…
Unassuming, humble, off the radar, this is arguably the BEST, most authentic NY pizza in Salt Lake City. Been here for 30 years. Owner’s originally from Staten Island. We saw him bussing tables & chatted him up.
Perfectly crispy, succulent crust with wonderful cheese blisters, tangy tomato sauce, dripping in just the right amount of cheese.
We went to another, highly touted pizza place visited by the One Bite guy & it PALED in comparison.
We tried to look up pizza places worthy of NY on Google & came up wanting. We only found this neighborhood gem by accident after leaving Parleys Historic Nature Park.
Don’t understand the low ratings. People are out of their minds.
Btw, why does Ozzy play in the background of every great pizzeria?
PS. Spaghetti & meatballs (we came back for dinner) were okay, not as good as the pizza. Meatballs tasted like it had a weird herb or maybe frozen & microwaved. Sauce might’ve came straight from a can, barely reheated. Spaghetti, unfortunately, was barely lukewarm to cold, clumped in spots.
PPS. It would be nice if staff are sick or getting over a cold/allergy to not be hanging around coughing everywhere. Just an idea.

Big Apple Pizza is hands down one of my favorite pizza spots. Every time I go, it reminds me of how pizza used to be when I was a kid — simple, authentic, and incredibly delicious. They absolutely nail that classic New York–style pizza. The crust has that perfect balance of crisp and chew, the sauce is spot on, and the cheese is exactly what you hope for when you grab a proper slice.
It’s the kind of place where you take a bite and immediately think, this is what pizza is supposed to taste like. If you’re looking for real New York–style pizza done right, Big Apple Pizza is the place.

Great quick spot to grab a quick bite to eat. The pizza was thin crusted and yummy, while the garlic knots were FANTASTIC! Everyone was kind and helpful!

Showed up and it was busy so we knew it would take a bit to get our food which is fine. They told me to take a seat and they would be with us. After 15 minutes of no attention I went up and placed my order and told them I was eating in. We never got drinks and after 40 minutes only half of my order showed up and when I asked for my garlic knots, they said sorry we have given them to someone else on accident and that it would be another 20 minutes before we could get our food by which time we had to leave. Half the kids working there were so oblivious it was insane. Great food, just order out so you don’t have to deal with the people there.

As a NYer who never really enjoys pizza outside NY, but this place was pretty decent! The taste was very much there for the pizza, I just wish there was fluffier crust like in NY. We finally found Garlic Knots too, just wish they had more garlic flavor. The vibe inside is very NY pizza. And I would caution, the Alfredo Mac and cheese is not worth getting. Very creamy, but 0 flavor. The garlic bread was delicious that came with it though.

I have been going to Big Apple for years. It was always our go-to for New York style pizza. The last couple of years things have sadly gone downhill though with 2 plus hour wait times and last week I picked up one extra large pepperoni pizza. I got there a few minutes early and waited for it to come out. Got it home and the bottom was completely black, totally inedible. I called to complain and they did offer to give me a discount or make me another one. The second pizza was good, but nothing was done for the inconvenience of having to go back and barely got a “sorry about that” from the guy who made it. What happened to John? Is there a new owner? WTH is going on over there. So disappointed!!!

Just barely stopped in for a pizza, and I’m very impressed.
I ordered a Hawaiian on extra-thin NY crust. It was delicious.
The flavors were great, and the crust tasted perfect. It had a true NY-style bite and the pie has a little bit of seasoning that really made it sing.
I was hesitant to try this place due to the low 4-star rating. But don’t let it dissuade you. I’m convinced the low reviews have come from the kind of people who think Dominos and Pizza Hut are the pinnacle of pizza.
If you go in without any preconceptions, I think you’ll enjoy this place.

Probably the best NY slice shop I’ve found in Utah. I’m a returning customer whenever I want to order some pizza. However, this time we decided to get wings and I’m extremely disappointed. Don’t waste your time or money. They are the smallest wings I think I’ve ever seen and I feel very ripped off. The buffalo sauce is great but the 10 wings I got equates to maybe 5 regular wings. Other than that, the pizza and service are top tier.
