Drove down from Southaven Ms to have me the famous pig ear, this place is rich in history, it’s like walking into a time capsule, the Big Apple Inn is one of a kind.

You might be confused and think this is a place to stay, but it’s a place to eat lol. Just one of the wonderful things about Jackson. Big apple inn has history and flavors worth checking out. It’s worth a try to get you something truly southern. Get you some sliders

The pig ear and the sausage sandwiches are AWESOME! The history here is very rich but also sad. Come for the food and you won’t be disappointed at all. You’ll only wish you could eat more.

This place is a old history filled spot in Jackson. The sandwiches are so good! I love adding the slaw on my sausage sandwich! Don’t let the old building fool you. It’s worth trying but remember to get at least 10 sandwiches! You’ll have some for right now and later too.

I love the pig ears sandwich I ordered several and I liked the smoke’s to but my favorite was The pig ears sandwich !! The neighborhood was a little rough ! But I would go again and again ! Every one I encountered were friendly I personally had no problem but was warned by several locals ?? Not to go down there , I sat at one of the small tables and consumed my meal and had a entertaining conversation with a really nice fellow !! Yes I was in there after dark and the boogie Man didn’t get me

Wonderful people are the first thing you’ll encounter when visiting Big Apple Inn. The exterior brings you back to the days of yesteryear as does the interior. The grill is busy and the crowd eager. Don’t be afraid to order the pig ear with your choice of heat (I went with hot). The idea of eating pig’s ear might be daunting for some but take the plunge as the reward is worth it. Fatty, meaty, dressed perfectly this is a small slider that will stick to your memory. Easily one of the best things I’ve eaten and it comes with a slice of history as Jackson doesn’t hide the past with glossy makeovers. I’ll be back again and again. Enjoy!

Big Apple Inn is what I would call “a hole in the wall” serving up sliders. Simple, straight-forward menu. The sliders are called smokes and consist of hot or mild link sausage that’s ground up and then sauteed on a flat grill and served with Cole slaw. They also have pig ear sandwiches. I tried a hot, mild, and pig ear because when my friends rave about a place I like to give it a fair shot b/c I love food. But there was nothing special here. Staff was very friendly though. The meat to bread ratio of these sliders left something to be desired. And I just wasnt feeling the pig ear. I didnt think I would, but it’s not every day you get a pig ear slider so I had to try it. I think it would’ve been better if it was a fried pig ear on the slider. The Red Apple Inn was also the only business I noticed in a somewhat desolate and abandoned historic looking area. It seemed to be popular tho b/c several other folks came in while we were waiting for our order. We had interesting convo in line with some folks about what it may take to revitalize Jackson’s once booming historic areas. I hope that day comes. Glad I tried it, but I’ll probably check out other places next time I visit.
