I usually come to this place and the service is normally great. The staff is usually very attentive and always offer all the available options. For example, when there are no bagels on the shelf, they kindly offer for you to wait a few minutes while fresh ones come out of the oven, which customers usually appreciate.
However, today I had a very unpleasant experience with a girl wearing glasses. She was not friendly and did not offer the same level of service I’m used to receiving here. They also have a promotion of 4 muffins for $12, and usually other staff members let you know that for just $1 more you can get four. Today that was not mentioned.
I had never been helped by her before, and unfortunately it was not a good experience. I hope this can be improved, because the place itself is usually very nice and peaceful to eat.

Since I discovered this little gem on McLean Blvd, I try to come here for breakfast on the weekends since Big Apple Bagels delivers consistently high-quality products that keep customers coming back. Their bagels are fresh, flavorful, and perfectly baked, with standout options like the lox bagel—featuring fresh salmon and crisp vegetables that make for a truly delicious meal. One of the highlights is their wide variety of cream cheese flavors, including the pineapple and walnut blend, which offers a sweet and nutty twist that’s absolutely delicious. Though the place is often busy, the staff is efficient and attentive, ensuring you get your order quickly without sacrificing quality. A must-visit for bagel lovers.

They could do some updating to the interior. However, if you like bagels and cream cheese….it’s the best. I’ve been going there for years.
My faves are the swiss melt bagel with olive cream cheese or for a sweeter tooth, apple pie bagel with pineapple walnut cream cheese.

I truly enjoyed this establishment for its cuisine; however, I received my salad with an unexpected “extra” ingredient. When I returned to show the slender elderly woman (whose name I did not catch), she remarked, “well, it’s part of life.” She is fortunate that my parents instilled in me the value of respecting my elders, as I managed to maintain my composure and my breath to respond to her in front of a crowded venue, stating, “maintaining a clean establishment is also part of life.” She did not even offer an apology for what was clearly their oversight! I will certainly not return, due to her.

This place rules– the NY style bagels blow other chain bagels out of the water. Big selection of cream cheese flavors as well as bagel flavors. Expect it to be hopping on weekend mornings (not sure about weekdays). Always a good sign! Despite the line, the staff is great, efficient, and plentiful. They keep it moving. Reasonably priced as well – spent $13 total on a bagel with side of cream cheese, and a bagel sandwich with turkey/bacon/cheese. For comparison, a Corey’s Bagels sandwich up the road in Algonquin usually runs me around $16 alone. That includes a bag of chips, but the price is still steep. Bottom line: Big Apple Bagel is the best!

I’m new to the neighborhood so I stopped in. Friendly staff! Clean environment. Great bagels and great coffee too! Also check out the great muffin collection they have. This place will be taking all my money as I live a block away.

The food and service are good but I found a piece of metal baked into my banana nut muffin today, 1/11/26. Looks like maybe a piece of equipment broken.

Big Apple Bagels is a surprisingly immersive experience for something that could have been ordinary. From the moment you walk in, the aroma hits(fresh, warm, inviting) like they’ve bottled the essence of a morning in New York. The staff are unexpectedly thoughtful, greeting you by name if you’re a regular, and guiding you through options without pressure. Each bagel is perfectly chewy, toasted to just the right degree, and paired with spreads that feel handcrafted rather than mass-produced. I ordered a classic with cream cheese, and it was balanced, rich, and comforting in a way that made me pause mid-bite. Even small details(like the freshness of the toppings and the temperature of the coffee) are executed with care. Sitting down to eat, I felt like the shop cared not just about food, but about creating a genuine little moment of satisfaction. Big Apple Bagels turns a simple breakfast into something memorable, and I left thinking I’d come back not just for the bagels, but for the experience itself.
