On our quest to try and find hidden gems we have yet to try, we struck gold this is hands down a 5 and best bbq i have had in quite a while. It made me rethink other bbq. Staff is very warm and friendly, definitely a hometown feel and home cooked meal, family owned and operated. Unlike other places you could see the smoke ring in the meat and see the giant smoker with the wood sitting out back. Meat very tender, flavorful, and a nice smokey bark you find on good bbq. Wife stepped out of her comfort zone and tried the sausage and it was also 5 star. Definitely found our go to when we crave bbq, worth the drive, I think this is a MUST STOP when going by Roachdale. Good portions for the money and reasonably priced.

It’s a little bit of a trek from Lafayette but well worth it for this little spot not far off of US 231. Small and cozy with maybe 6 tables all told with a very friendly staff. We were waited on by the co-owner and she was ready with recommendations. What we had food-wise was excellent and I have zero reason to think that rest of the menu isn’t just as delicious. We will certainly be back.

Wow! Off the beaten path, but so worth the drive! Had the Brisket Philly, baked beans and loaded fries. Can’t wait until next time, to try something different. Everyone loved their food! Super friendly service and very very kid friendly <3

Wow! All I can say is wow! The service was so very nice, Kate was a fantastic server. She mentioned that she’s never had a bad item from the menu. My people were skeptical but after trying it I can say she’s right! The brisket is world-class. The pulled pork was perfectly smoked. The sausage was about as flavorful as I’ve ever had. The chicken was tender, juicy and smoky. The coleslaw was crunchy without being soggy. The mac was cheesy and creamy. Very tasty menu! Can’t say enough about it!
Man oh man and the home-brewed sauces. The Alabama white was the star of the show. All the sauces were good but that one was my absolute favorite. Once we left, we still smelled like BBQ for hours! It was a great experience and I hope to hit them up again when traveling that way.

My wife and I drove an hour from our home to try Hatchet House and I’m very happy that we did. Don’t get be too quick to judge here as it’s definitely a small spot that’s nothing fancy. However the food is awesome. My wife and I shared the nacho sampler (who knew pulled pork went so well on nachos). My wife had the pulled pork sliders while I enjoyed the Keith Style sandwich. Every item was delicious and the service was polite, professional and friendly. We will be returning in spite of the drive to try many more of then menu items. Awesome family run spot that is worth going out of your way for!

Wife and I ordered awhile back, I got a two meat special of rib tips and burnt ends and my wife had the brisket. We both had Mac & cheese and wife had potato salad. Mac was like left over thanksgiving. Not super creamy but like that chunky sticky cheese of baked Mac, just thick cheese goodness. Burnt ends had a few chucks that were only fat and no meat but no big deal. Food was amazing! The service was better!!! I was asked how far my drive was and I said 15 mins, she said leave now it’ll be done when you get here. 3 mins out from the spot she called again and said it’s all up are you close. Both times said please drive safe. She cares about her customers. Beautiful people make this wonderful food happen. If you live in the area, get this bbq. It’s good, and so are they.

Came here after a day at Turkey Run State Park. I had the pulled pork with carolina gold BBQ sauce, mac ‘n cheese and coleslaw with a side of ribs. Tried the brisket and BBQ pinwheel app. and was further impressed. The food was amazing and the service was excellent! Definitely a great stop if you are in the area. I hope to visit Hatchet House again soon.

Have had Hatchet House 4 times now and I can’t find anything I don’t like. If you haven’t been here go!!! The waitress is the nicest lady we have ever had when going out to eat, I believe she is also the owner so that helps too. Great restaurant great food!! 8 out of 10 easy!!
