Been coming here for years, best subs fresh buns. They have the best coated fries not those cheap fries other sub shops have.

This place used to be the best — not anymore.
We hadn’t been in a while and decided to give it another try today. Big mistake.

I ordered the small chicken fingers for $14.99 and was shocked to find only four tiny pieces of chicken in the container. I honestly thought it was a mistake, so I called the store to ask if that price and portion were correct. A woman answered the phone, laughed at me, and said, “It’s because of inflation.” No apology, just sarcasm and attitude. Totally rude and unprofessional.
Needless to say, my kid was still hungry after that sad excuse of a meal.

It only got worse from there. I ordered my usual go-to: the eggplant parm sub — something I’ve always loved from Big A. What I got this time was the most disgusting eggplant I’ve ever had. It was a soggy pile of slop, drenched in a weird, rancid-tasting sauce that had a strange bitter cinnamon flavor. Absolutely inedible.

So, I brought it back.

When I walked into the store, I saw a woman eating over the food prep counter while talking to me. Behind her, raw chicken was stacked dangerously high on the prep table — in a space that felt like 90 degrees — and a cook was not wearing gloves. I was genuinely concerned about food safety at that point.

The man I spoke with at the counter was polite and professional, and thankfully the woman who had laughed at me earlier changed her tone. They refunded me for the eggplant parm, but the damage was done.

What happened to this place?! Overpriced, poor quality, unsafe practices, and customer service that’s downright insulting.
$77 including a $10 tip to feed a family of 5.
We won’t be back.

They use to have the absolute best Chicken Parm Subs going back 30+ years……..sadly not anymore. The past 2 orders months apart have been downright horrible. Today’s order was for 3 chicken parm subs and a fry that cost $50. The chicken is tough, the sauce is super sweet, and the fries taste fishy. Also we asked for extra sauce and the sub is DRY. Fry’s were $8!

Both my sandwich and my girlfriend’s sandwiches were great. Fresh made, great flavor, and a fair price.
Also the most underrated of things at a sandwich shop is the napkins. The napkins are SOLID.

I ordered a broccoli cheese pizza. They did not even bother to cook my order the proper way. I received a cheese pizza with broccoli florets tossed ontop of it. What a lazy way to cook! I’m vexed and this was not worth the money spent.

I have been going here for 40 years! For 38 years it was great!! I don’t know what happened about 2 years ago but now the food is sloppy, the pizza has so much cheese on it, it will gag you and slip off on transit.
The prices on the web site do not match what they “try” to charge you. The staff is rude. It is very expensive now and not nearly worth the cost.

I stopped here at the recommendation of someone and I got the chicken finger sub and onion rings. I will say the food was good and the service was great. I think the prices were a little expensive. Would I eat here again yes I would.

I was working in the area and happened to stop in to grab food. I wish I could go here for lunch every day. I got the steak bomb, and it was perfectly cooked. The staff was extremely friendly. Customers were coming in, and they knew them by name. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area or looking for something new.

Im so disappointed i have been a big A customer for over 40 years. The Huntington Ave Boston location was near my high school. I snuck out for lunch a few times a week because i was hooked on big A subs. The quality has always been worth the extra $ and they never let me down. UNTIL NOW! Yesterday was probably the last time i will ever order from them again. I paid $19 for a ham and cheese and a 4.5oz bag of chips that was totally INEDIBLE
The ham was thick with chunks and it tasted disgusting the cheese was weird and overpowering the mayo was watery. And the last few times I ordered before this we’re not much better. It really sucks but Im sure with the lack of quality and the high prices it won’t be long before we say RIP to The Big A …
