Ask the locals in Le Claire about this place and you will get steered towards one of the restaurants on the main drag instead. Don’t listen to them. It’s worth the trip to the outskirts of town.

I had the German sausage sampler with potato pancakes and dumplings. Make sure to get a side of spicy mustard if you go this route. And, remember, German sausage is traditionally served cold.

They have a number of German beers on tap but I didn’t have any.

8/01/23 Dinner. I had the sausage dinner – I picked the halepeneo cheddar sausage (4) and the bavarian brotwurst sausage (3) with 2 sides: lemon chicken white-bean soup (4) and the potato pancakes (5, that were hot and delicious). My wife had the wiernerschnitzel dinner (3) with the same sides. For an appetizer, we got the ruben egg rolls (5, they were excellent – and a generous portion).

A couple of fruit flies and a house fly kept us busy the whole meal guarding our food (2). Also, it tasted like the oil used to cook our food was old. The fried food came out dark enough to make me think that. Check out the pics and see if the fried foods don’t look too dark. It was a lot of food, so we brought home leftovers.

Plus a 4% fee for using my credit card.

Ambiance = 4
Food = 3
Service = 3
Flies = 2
Credit card fee = 2

Overall = 2.8 out of 5

5 = Excellent: Uniquely satisfying.
4 = Very Good: Better than expected.
3 = Average: An everyday experience.
Most fall into this category.
2 = Fair: Below par. Dirty smells. & / or flies.

A really beautiful nice restaurant with German food and bier right on the Mississippi River. Free parking wraps around 2 sides. The Köstritzer-Schwarzbier is cold, refreshing and smooth and the food is very delectable!! Love the atmosphere with a German and industrial aesthetic. Bathrooms very nice and clean.

Awesome experience. Staff is friendly, environment is lively, establishment is clean, service is great and food was awesome.

Menu items pictured include their signature nachos off the appetizer list: 6.5 out of 10 ⭐

The Portabella blue cheese mushroom burger with a side of garlic spatzle : 7.5 out 10 ⭐

Their corned beef reuben sandwich with a side of potato pancakes : 8.2 out 10 ⭐

1 liter mug of Angry Orchard Cider

Overall a awesome experience and would highly encourage anyone to give this place a try and to support local during these hard times.

We will definitely be back soon!

Before our departure from ORD we spent one night on the Mississippi River in Davenport/Le Claire and visited the “Bierstube” – since it was right next to our hotel.
Ok, it was worth the try, but you can’t do it with bayr.
Compare the food – whether apple strudel/sausages or something similar – the guests mainly ordered burgers and fries.
The restaurant was well frequented/ whether it is due to the public holiday on July 4th, the excellent location or the idea cannot be judged.
In any case, the staff was very polite and the ambience was harmonious.
Comparing the food with the originals would be unfair and therefore outside the scope of the assessment. Nonetheless, great idea and well executed

I’ve been to Germany on multiple occasions, so I am very familiar with the food. To call what I ordered Leberkas is a stretch. It looked and tasted more like bacon spam that had been fried. The side of Spatzle was dry and bland, if not for the salt and pepper packet there would have be no taste at all. The highlight of my meal was the red cabbage. It was flavorful and my only complaint is the cabbage leaves need to be cut down a little. I could not finish the meal. It went in the trash and I ordered a Rueben from the hotel restaurant to replace it.

09/04/2023 update.
I had a visiting German friend make authentic Laberkas for me for a comparison. I have added pictures for review. The blue check paper is the restaurant offering and the plated and pan is what laberkas should look (and taste) like. The plated is fresh out of the oven and the panned is fried laberkas. Good luck to the owner. However, I will not return.

I’ve spent most of my time in Bierstubes hanging out in the location in Moline. Myself and my friends used to love the shuffle puck table upstairs and the various old arcade cabinets. We also liked the $1 beers on Wednesdays at the time, as well. I’ve visited this location in LeClaire far fewer times, if just for the fact that it’s further afield from home than the Moline location. It is, however, very close to my commute to and from work at this point.

This particular Bierstube is relatively new. I remember when it opened in 2009-2010ish in this location. That newness can still be felt – the booths and tables still look relatively new, the bar doesn’t look worn at all, and the flags of many nations still hang colorfully from the open plenum ceiling. The floor is a solid concrete slab, and the HVAC ductwork is plainly visible throughout the space. It’s a nice little place on the river, I enjoy it.

I wasn’t really feeling alcohol on this night, but I still opted to dine alone at the bar. I ended up getting a burger and fries, something I know from experience Bierstube does really well. They were out fairly quickly and I soon tucked in. The burger was especially great – I got it with bacon and sauteed mushrooms. The mushrooms are better than any I’ve had on other burgers in the area. I’d highly recommend you try these if you like such burgers.

The fries were similarly fantastic. Bierstube does them right – adequate crispiness on the outside, plenty of fluffiness on the inside. There were honestly some really great fries. I’d get these by themselves.

I’d stop by here from work again in the future, for sure. The food is as good as I remember it being at any of the locations. Might have to get some Landjager in the future for a snack. Thanks Bierstube.

Cool place with a river view. I had the lava burger I wished I would have asked for grilled jalapenos on it because it came with raw jalapenos on it which was good but grilled would had put the lave burger over the top. I also had the lemon bourbon shrimp butt those needed help and were lacking the glazed zesty flavor I was expecting. The Ruben was also very good. Liked the potato cakes and their fries.The dark beer Gollar dunkle on draft was tasty.

I would give 6 stars if I could. Where do I start? Very clean location, loved the vibe outside with the little boat and pond off the river. Our server was the friendliest. We just came in for a quick bite on our way home, and they had us out of there in 15 min. Food was AMAZING. My fiance hates sauerkraut and he loved it on our nachos. Plus, the cheese for the giant pretzel, that is bigger than my head BTW lol, was so tasty I dipped my nachos in it. We will be back! Can’t wait to try the rueben egg rolls next.
