Food tastes fresh and delicious. I love that I can get a healthy serving of vegetables and proteins as tasty Korean food.
I have tried the Bibim Bap (Vege Lover) and added the spicy pork, and then the Jim Bap (Bento style, with rice, Spicy pork again because its delicious, vegetables and some appetizers)
The kimchi is pickled well and tastes delicious. They do make everything fresh here from scratch.
I plan to come back for sure, and try the noodles next (Jjolmyeon which is a spicy chewy cold noodle)
Also, they serve barley tea with the meals (cold in the summer time and hot in the winter time) and I love barley tea.
Place is also clean and has a nice vibe.
I’ll be back!
The biggest letdown was the pervasive sogginess that affected multiple dishes. The veggies, normally a textural highlight, were limp and watery. The kimchi pancakes, which should be crispy and savory, were sadly saturated and lacked any real kimchi punch. The dumplings, too, suffered the same fate, their wrappers falling flat and flavorless.
The rice cake stew, while edible, failed to impress. It was more of a simmered mix of ingredients than a flavorful, cohesive dish. I missed the depth and complexity I typically find in Korean stews.
Bibim Town has some work to do in terms of texture and taste. Addressing the sogginess issue and infusing dishes with bolder, more authentic flavors would go a long way in improving the overall experience.
Also, the serving station for the veggies was literally bowls of veggies sitting on ice. They don’t not look appealing and unfortunately tasted the same way.
May 2024 update: The J bop is so delicious. Really loved the spicy pork which is Korean’s equivalent to Mexican’s al pastor in the culinary field in my humble opinion. The dumpling and Korean pancake are tailored to the local American taste but doesn’t take away authenticity. The pancake no longer has the noticeable cabbage flavor that I mentioned in the past but still tastes good. Customers are a mix of Koreans and Americans so you can hear Korean in the background.
I personally never saw any restaurant cook this delicious bibimbap like here in the USA.
I highly recommend this place. I always get bibimbap but this time I tried Jip bap. It was really delicious as well!!!!!! So nice.!!!!
