Reviews
BHC Chicken is a fried chicken chain from South Korea that serves chicken dusted in a sweet-cheesy-garlicky bburinkle seasoning.
I first encountered them at Rancho Bernardo and was pleasantly pleased by my meal, but very disappointed their establishment was set up TO-GO only.
With this Carlsbad location, customers have the option to dine-in or take out their food.
Conveniently located just off of El Camino Real and across from the Carlsbad Mall , I believe this chain will be popular in the area.
There’s plenty of free parking in the joint parking lot, although minimal, there is seating inside, the service is very attentive, and the food is excellent!
They are very well known for their BBURING seasoning, which is like a dusty, cheesy, garlic seasoning that is flavorful and adds a unique taste to anything it’s added to.
Although they do have menu options such as noodles, fries, cheese twists, cheese balls and crispy chips (similar to Doritos), they are best known for their crispy chicken.
This is not to be confused with the typical Nashville, hot-chicken style that is trendy.
Their chicken is crispy & savory first, with just the right spicing & flavor for chicken enthusiasts.
My favorite is the MATCHO KING & GOLD KING style of chicken, each drizzled in a zesty sauce, that is pungently sweet, garlicky, salty and spicy.
VERY ADDICTIVE!!
I also love their BBURING chips and they are best enjoyed when served fresh, warm & crispy!
Overall, I really like the option to have BHC chicken nearby in Carlsbad and I prefer their style over the typical “hot chicken” style that is trendy.
The staff member at the front was extremely friendly and helped me pick out a good dinner cuz I’ve never been here before so I didn’t know exactly what I wanted..
She answered all my questions and showed me the menu and helps me pick out what I might like the best..
Got home and started eating my food and man this is some good chicken.. I definitely recommend this place for anybody looking for high protein meals..
I will definitely be back again… Thank you very much again for the excellent customer service and excellent chicken ll
Pro tip: if you get the 4 count of chicken (wings or tenders) you are limited to classic fried or hot fried, so if you want to try any of the other flavors, get at least 8 count. I recommend Gold King flavor.
As a stand alone friend chicken flavor it doesn’t come close to Jollibee’s so without that real flavor boost it’s a little lacking. I really wish they would describe the red spice as gochujang. The friend chicken sandwich looks like the Burger King Sandwich pictures from the late 90’s.
Good crunch, decent oil, lacking marinade, feels like it’s just seasoned. Not greasy/oily. Even fried chicken breast can be overcooked, but they push it.
Kimchi fried rice or the rice bowl are to me the best items other than the combo. Fries and wedges are crisp, fluffy. The Kimchi fried rice has great texture.
Decor is bland, service feel neutered compared to most Korean restaurants.
It’s weird that they have Soju which normally is quite good with fried foods, but without grilled meats it seems unbalanced.
Like most Japanese Vinyl bars in the states they are opened by people who have never actually been to one in Japan. That is what it feels like here. AI version of Korean Fried Chicken washed down for the masses.
