Have mercy! I understand why Betty Mae’s is ranked in the top 10 fried chickens in AL. The chicken was seasoned, juicy, and five napkins at least. The veggies were good and the cornbread was flavorful. I cannot wait to dig into the banana pudding.

I’m not really a soul food person but this place was highly recommended so we tried it out. I was reminded how I miss soul food. The food was delicious, fresh, and hot. The red velvet cake lasted me for 2 days!

I had the fried pork chop, collard greens and Mac & cheese. The crispy, perfectly seasoned pork chop was the star! Piping hot, golden brown, and delicious!

Outstanding home-style food! Best fried chicken I have ever had – dropped in the fryer when your order is made. Great selection of sides. Posting after my first visit. I can attest that the fried green tomatoes, cabbage, pinto beans were excellent. Desserts come with the meals – peach cobbler and pound cake were excellent. 96 Health Department score.

My family and I ate here for lunch Sunday afternoon and it was so good. We tried the fried chicken, fried catfish, and chicken and dressing and we all left so full and with a good portion leftover for later. Fried okra, fried green tomatoes, mac and cheese, yum! Loved it all…cant forget to mention the honey bun cake…oh lord was it good. We will be back!

I have nothing bad to say about this place. The food was good. When it comes to soul food, she has it all in this place. Don’t expect a five-star dining experience, but the food makes up for the atmosphere. When I get back to Huntsville, I will definitely make another stop as there are no places like this Saint Pete anymore.

Awesome prices! The turkey leg was HUGE and delicious, well cooked. The okra side was also very well served. Three of us ate with 3 drinks and desserts for under $40 before tip and it was nice portion sizes. When people say traditional Southern food or Soul food, don’t think greasy like I did, this was really well cooked and nothing was super oily. It was fried of course but fried well! I left without that heavy feeling you usually get when eating fried food, no bad reflux after either. The only negative is the older building, so be prepared for that if you’re super picky about aesthetics, otherwise I am glad I trusted the girls at work and checked it out! (Kims and the Dark Side coffee shop next door are good spots as well, will definitely be back to all 3!)
