The food was so fresh and delicious, the people so warm and inviting. We had the veggie platter and it was fantastic! Coffee too! So worth the drive (we need this in Tacoma.) We’ll be back!

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing… I’ve enjoyed other Ethiopian restaurants before but I expected something a bit different. It was probably my mistake. Still tasty tho and I will be coming back to try more dishes and will update my review in the future.

The food was so delicious! My wife is gluten free and dairy free and loved the meat sampler plate. I had the vegetarian sample plate and all of the lentils and greens were tasty! Can’t wait to go back!!

Great, and flavorful food. Excellent options for those that are gluten free! Also very reasonably priced for so much food! There was not a long wait for bringing out our order either. The owner’s and staff are very respectful and provide attentive service.

From the moment we walked into Beteseb, the warm, homey atmosphere set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff greeted us with genuine hospitality, and the ambiance—comfortable, no-frills—lets the food do the talking.
What We Loved:
• The vegetarian combo is a showstopper: vibrant turmeric cabbage, sautéed greens, and multiple lentil preparations each with distinct flavors. The salad accompaniment had a zippy dressing that cut through the richness.
• For meat lovers, the beef tibs are a highlight—well-seasoned, juicy, with a nice char. And when the rib-eye is offered as an upgrade, the value is still stellar.
• Portion sizes are generous—don’t plan on leaving hungry.
• The service was friendly, attentive, and unpretentious. One reviewer noted they weren’t disappointed this time — good meal and kind service.
Room for Improvement / Small Quibbles:
• Some diners comment that spice levels are kept moderate. If you like your food fiery, be sure to mention it.
• The decor is simple. It focuses on the food rather than fancy surroundings—perfect for casual dining, but not for those craving a high-end ambiance.
• Wait times can fluctuate—if the place is busy, be prepared to wait a bit for your dishes.
Final Take:
Beteseb strikes a rare balance—authentic Ethiopian fare, generous portions, and accessible pricing, all in a warm neighborhood setting. It’s easy to see why it made the 100 Very Best Restaurants list. For both newcomers and longtime lovers of Ethiopian cuisine, Beteseb delivers reliably satisfying meals. I’ll definitely return—and next time, I might dare them to turn up the heat a notch.

Delicious authentic Ethiopian food. Willing to work with us silly white people and make the food mild enough for us to enjoy. Love the vibe.

I waited for 30 minutes to buy meat, but no one served me. They were enjoying themselves in the back and always said, “We’re coming.” The worst restaurant I’ve ever seen. Please, don’t go to there restaurant. I’m not recommending for anyone.
