Betelgeuse Betelgeuse is a neighborhood cocktail bar and pizza place located off Washington Avenue, near Sawyer Yard. What’s the deal with the name? Betelgeuse is a supergiant star in the Orion constellation. It’s a short mental walk when you think about Houston, Space City, NASA, space culture, astronomy, etc. As Houstonians we’ve always loved space so we started thinking about fitting names for the bar that might involve that. And here we are! We’re great for first dates, breakups, weird art, large groups, an afternoon cocktail while reading a book or finishing some work, karaoke, late night DJs, Flaming Dr. Peppers, sci-fi bathroom hallways, and friendly bartenders.

Enjoyed the overall aesthetic and vibe. The service was good, very friendly. Main issue was with how long it took for our food to come out. We sat inside but there was barely any AC in our area. We got two pizzas, which weren’t bad but weren’t worth the wait. Their $7 photo booth was a bit pricey, specially for only 3 poses

Incredible pizza, really rad atmosphere. Wish they had said something like “seat yourself, order at the bar” when we came in since we kinda just stood around awkwardly, but overall a great experience. We were lucky to come in during their happy hour and got a large-ish milk bottle of beer for $7. Great price on the wings too considering the inflation. Two and half parking lots, too. Will definitely be back with a group of friends.

Visited Saturday May 20,2023 after 10pm. Christian is the Man. We stopped in after leaving another bar in the neighborhood and the atmosphere here was just so much better. We approached the bar, were given menus but rather than look at it, I asked Christian if he could make me a drink that was refreshing and fruity. He made me a Mambo Sun and it was legit. He also made my 2 friends something they wanted as well based upon their taste preference and they loved it. We had pizza which was also great, took pics in the photo booth and had a damn good time. We’re already planning our return for Memorial Weekend. Keep up the great work, you guys are awesome.

Love the atmosphere at this place. The bartenders are really friendly especially Peter. They have a great bar, and the pizza is great. You can share a pizza between three people comfortably. The crust on the pizza is really good too. Would easily recommend to a friend. A place you can eat good food but also get drunk and have fun.
