Besthibachi (San Diego) – Uber Eats
Reviews
I ordered the chicken and filet mignon with fried rice ($42), and honestly it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in San Diego. The chicken was rubbery and dry, the steak had no flavor, and the fried rice was so salty it was inedible. I couldn’t even finish it.
For the price and time wasted, this place is absolutely not worth it. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs. Terrible service, terrible food, and a complete disappointment.

We paid $47 after tip for the photo of food you see. Shrimp + Steak Combination plus an upgrade to fried rice + tip. I initially felt like we got ripped off but in the end it was more than enough food for 2 people.
We walked in and there was zero signage or instructions on what to do.
There was an employee working behind a register who was definitely not happy that ANYONE was there. There were two chefs behind windows. We found a paper menu on a table near the unhappy register employee and decided to try and order. I got zero smile or response after ordering and paid the 47 dollars. The employee handed us a handwritten ticket and didn’t say anything. I asked how long and she said about 20 minutes.
During the 20 minutes of waiting we saw at least two groups come in and immediately leave as they were probably just confused or they saw the prices.
That said we got our food and took it to go. This isn’t the place you’d want to eat or hang out in. No alcohol or anything that is inviting or would make someone want to hang out. After we got home we divided up the food and it was honestly really really delicious. Steak was super tender very high quality, Shrimp were decent sized, cooked perfectly and just delicious. The chicken fried rice good but not much chicken.
I think this place needs to take one of the many blank video/tv screens and display the menu or instructions or at least something useful. There was a very strange rap video playing which was just confusing and you couldn’t hear any numbers being called. An idea would be to have the order #’s being completed available on screen so folks know what to do. Food was really good. Since living in SD i’ve known at least 4 different establishments in this location and none have made it. I hope this one is different as it could be something.
Bottom line is this is very high quality food in a very low quality setting. I’m not sure what to think but in the end it’s totally fine for take out.
I had the most disappointing experience with Besthibachi. I ordered through UberEats and waited over an hour for my food, which is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I tried calling the restaurant multiple times, but they didn’t respond at all.
When my order finally arrived, I discovered they had forgotten an entire item—the Chicken Plate with garlic sauce. How can a restaurant mess up an order so badly?
This experience has been frustrating, and I now understand why there are so many negative reviews. Don’t be fooled by the false positive reviews on UberEats; I certainly won’t be ordering from Besthibachi again. Save your time and money and choose a restaurant that values its customers!
Moreover, this is the second time they’ve told me the food would be ready in 20 minutes, yet when I arrived 30 minutes later, it still wasn’t done. When I asked to speak to a manager, only the cashier and chef were present, and the restaurant was empty.
When this place first opened, the service was quick, the staff was polite, and the portions were great. Unfortunately, it has declined significantly since then. The staff seems indifferent, and the potential this place had initially is fading. Don’t waste your time or money here. I will not be returning.
***Update: After eating the food from this restaurant, both my husband and I became very sick. My son didn’t eat this food, so we know it was from the restaurant. We experienced severe stomach cramps and had to rush to the toilet frequently. It was a terrible experience, and I felt extremely unwell. Due to this, we will not be returning to this restaurant. I’m exhausted from the constant trips to the bathroom and barely got an hour of sleep. This is not normal, and I believe the health inspector should be called to investigate. Avoid eating here.
