Here’s the short version: the dumplings here are fantastic and well-worth the short venture off the beaten path.
I’ve gone up and down the main street in Englewood countless times, and it wasn’t until I was hit with a hankering for Korean food and did a quick search, only to find there was this hidden gem right off Palisade Avenue.
From the outside, Best Dumpling doesn’t seem like much. Nor does it seem like much from the inside. It’s a squishy, two-floor space with just a few tables and chairs. On the first floor, most of the available space is taken up by the kitchen and the order window, but that’s because they make everything fresh here. Dumplings dominate the menu (along with a few Korean stews and dishes, many of which feature said dumplings).
I don’t believe there’s such thing as a ‘best’ dumpling, but that’s because I love most dumplings I meet. When one of the owners overheard me waffling back and forth between the pork and broccoli/shrimp dumplings, she kindly offered to do a split order. Boy, was that fantastic. My preference is for fried dumplings, and they’re done up perfectly here. I gasped quite when I bit into a pork dumpling and felt some of the juices dribble out of its skin. My greater surprise was how much better I liked the broccoli and shrimp. I can’t think of another place that offers a filling like this one (plus the other interesting ones they’ve got here) and it was fantastic, especially with the accompanying garlic soy sauce. Believe me when I say there’s a reason why they sell this sauce by the bottle.
My husband’s ramyun dish (complete with rice cakes and four beef dumplings) was also satisfying. Truth be told, it was something I could conjure up easily enough with a pack of Korean instant noodles and some of their frozen dumplings (also sold on site). But for a cold, fall night, this was a lovely meal.
There’s a small and graveled parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. I didn’t spot any signage so I took a chance and left my car there with no issues. Parking in this part of Englewood is always a little tough so I consider it a huge boon that there’s at least a few spots available.
If you’ve got a yen for supporting small, super-local businesses or just a healthy appetite for fresh dumplings, you really can’t get better than this small but mighty spot.

Very sweet people. Food is a great price. I’ve always gotten their dumplings and occasional fried chicken. I never thought I would like veggie dumplings also but I haven’t had a single bad flavor

Delicious! First time here and I had 25 dumplings !! Shrimp, leeks, shrimp, and kale were my faves. They are so light and yum! You can mix and match them in your order. Staff is so pleasant

Ordered takeout recently as I was staying in the area for the day. Enjoyed their food. Steamed shrimp dumplings were very good. Fried chicken dumplings and chicken wings were good. I’ve had better dumplings elsewhere, so would probably give 4.5 stars, but service was quick and friendly. I’d give it another go if I was in the area again.

What a complete gem of a place. There is nothing better than perfect dumplings, and this place delivers just that. From the beef & leaks to the pork mandoo; steamed or fried it will bring a tear to you eyes with the deliciousness inside. This is a must try!

Not the best dumplings I’ve ever had but they’re pretty good. Fried over steam here. The skin is pretty thick so steam can do some traveling but fried is better if you do takeaway and want to reheat. I tried their beef (fried) and veggie (steamed). They are pretty decent but the it lacked any umami. The sauce that comes with the dumplings is probably the best thing here. They sell it in bottles and I can have that just abut anything!

Delicious, fresh dumplings! I ordered for pick up. My order was ready fast, and the dumplings stayed warm until I got to my destination (about 30 min away).
I ordered fried veggie, fried kimchi and beef, and steamed pork. Despite what other reviews said, I found both the steamed and the fried dumplings to be really tasty and I do not prefer one over the other. I did not find the dumplings to be too doughy. The filling to dough ratio was just right for me.
Also, the gingery sauce is the perfect addition! A little sweet and savory with a very light hint of spice. Thank goodness they sell bottles of it! It really is that good!
I will definitely go back, and I would love to try the wings next time!

Fantastic Korean dumpling place right by downtown Englewood. I’m typically not a huge fan of dumplings but I just had to try this hole-in-the-wall place after I passed by it several times. Older Korean ladies who worked there welcomed me into the establishment, very cozy, and explained the menu which also had chicken wings but I opted for just the beef dumplings. There’s not much to say except deep fried beef dumplings are marvelous. It’s cheaper than other Asian restaurants and I would say even better tasting. It appears their dumplings are sold in stores but having these at the restaurant was incredible. Swing by here and get some of these delicious dumplings!

My favorite local spot in Englewood. You’ll often see some old Korean folks come in to buy a bag of frozen dumplings. The homemade sauce is to die for. Has a run down, hole-in-the-wall vibe but the food is definitely worth it.
