For those that might not know, the mission set out by this hidden gem in town is “believing in creating opportunities and fostering independence for adults with disabilities through meaningful employment in a joyful café environment.”
In an effort to beat the late August heat my wife and I picked up iced lattes with their in-house made almond milk, the Breakfast Crepe, and the Gyro Crepe with their in-house tzatziki sauce (side note – for whatever reason good tzatziki is hard to come by out here, but they absolutely nailed it!) and all of it was delicious; it even came with a cherry tomato swan on top!
The staff is friendly, patient, and incredibly welcoming!
At the time of this review they’ve been open for roughly 4 months, but with construction on Coffman Street going on for pretty much the last 5 months we wouldn’t have even known this place existed if it weren’t for the r/Longmont subreddit!
As long as I have my choice of going to another corporate run green and white coffee shop or a local cafe that not only makes great coffee (and more at reasonable prices I might add), but genuinely tries to be a beacon of hope within a community and the change in the world we all would like to see…well I think it’s clear we’ll be coming back!
This truly was the Best Day Ever! (with Coffee + Crepes)
Special needs adults under the supervision of vocational coaches to be employed, and flourish . There is a buzz in the air, and not just from caffeine. It is a joy filled, and bright, with a happy vibe of serving, and learning and enjoying the atmosphere with family and friends. There is also merchandise for purchase crafted by individuals with special needs. It is affiliated with ” Joy House” ..” gifts with purpose”. My first crepe was savory with pesto, mozzarella cheese, balsamic glaze and tomatoes . It was magnificent . I also enjoyed a sugar free caramel latte which was delivered with a smile to my table hot and inviting . There is a lot of construction on the street, but don’t be dismayed. Some of the things that are more challenging to navigate often become the greatest rewards in our lives . I’ve been back, and plan to meet a friend there for breakfast this week .
