Delicious food, pleasant and comfortable atmosphere, great people. This is not a place for a romantic date night. It’s a place to have great food with your best company and enjoy your eating experience. My family and I had stopped here on a vacation trip 20 years ago and it was the Google memories photos that popped up to remind me of the food! The onion rings are the BEST on the planet. They are HUGE and seem to be dipped in something like hush-puppy batter. We each had one with our meal, but had to take a full serving of onion rings as take-out for continued enjoyment at home. But don’t let me forget the BBQ as amazing, too! You will not be disappointed.

Food portion is amazing!!! Brisket is like 1lb when you order half pound, if you only eat lean part it is still more than half pound, so tasty too! Half Chicken is enough for 2 people and it’s flavorful, onion ring yeah it’s big with a lot of dough if you like it. Will be back!!

While visiting relatives, we pre-conpiled a list of BBQ restaurants to visit and had them filter and sort it. Bessingers was at the top but honestly, didn’t live up to the hype. Ribs were well cooked, not much bark. Ordered a pound of brisket for 2 and they gave us a single “chunk” of meat stuffed in a to-go soup container? They corrected the issue and gave us extra, sliced brisket. Sauces were amazing and the sides were very good. Would definitely visit again as it is good BBQ

I ordered the Big Joe Basket to go. I got home and found they sent me on my way with the Great Big Joe Basket!!! The sandwich is gigantic and the taste is just as big! Excellent! Highly recommended! Service was outstanding as always. TY

This is the place! Like a family bbq where everyone brought out their best recipes, everything we had was delicious and tasted great. The Mac and cheese was perfect. 1/2 chicken was seasoned well and tender. Pulled pork was sauced and delicious. Already thinking about coming back!

Food was fresh hot filling and the best bbq joint in town! The place makes you feel at home for one. For 2 customer service is great and they are super fast. The food is to die for long as you like food . I will definitely be back to Bessinger’s BBQ! Big place to sit at. Really old school pictures on the wall. Bathrooms are super clean. You can bring your entire family because they have something for everyone. They have more than just bbq.

They were out of pork, so I ordered brisket and turkey. It was good, but overpriced. The turkey and brisket were an additional $5 apiece bringing the cost of the dinner to $38. It was good, but not that good. The gold and red sauces were good, but sweet. The green beans and baked beans were both delicious. If the meal were so pricey, I’d have had no issues giving them 4 stars.

Ordered a burger and it came out twenty six minutes later on a stale, squished bun. Looks like someone who doesn’t know what cooking is tried to make it. Honestly wouldn’t feed this to a wild animal, let alone put it anywhere near my stomach. Absolutely horrible that they classify this as food, will not be returning as long as I draw breath.

Excellent food and awesome staff! I visited Charleston to drop my son off at the Citadel for his Knob year. We saw the flag of the USA flying on a pole in their parking lot and the Citadel flag right below it. (Go Dogs!!) My son asked to eat there. The food was great! I ended up eating three meals there over the length of my trip. Everything was excellent: pulled pork, steak fries, mac and cheese, onion rings, hamburger (all in), cole slaw, corn bread, and baked beans. Their sweet tea was some of the best I’ve had. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They patently waited each time I had to wrestle what good food to order next. When I return to Charleston, I will definitely return for a meal.
