My son & I decided that we wanted to try some real Southern BBQ food and saw this place from the road driving west from Chareston. We parked for free outside this place. Here, you place your order at the counter, leave your name and then they shout it out when your food is ready. We didn’t really know what to choose but the young lady behind the counter helped us out. She recommended that I try the Pulled Pork with pork bake beans, mac & cheese and corn bread. My son ordered chicken which came with a huge, delicious onion ring. It came on a tray with the food presented on a metal tray with greaseproof paper with some of the sides coming in small cardboard containers. No plates not silver cutlery in sight. We also bought large drinks from the “fountain” – chilled lemonade & I also tried Dr Peppers.

Full disclosure, I don’t eat meat! But got some sides, loved the potato salad and the cole slaw. Mac and cheese ok. My mom said the collard greens and pulled pork sandwich were good. Also tried a local ale (sour blueberry lime) which was tasty. Not a long wait and plenty of indoor seating plus some picnic tables outside.

Food was amazing. It is a food service counter so you go and order and they call your name to grab your food. St. Louis style bbq sauce option and they are so good! Loved everything we ate and will not disappoint. Was a little pricey but worth it for delicious food

I was extremely disappointed that they were out of brisket at 5:45 at night. They were doing a brisk business in drive through. I ended up with a pulled pork sandwich. This is your typical BBQ place where you walk up to the counter to order and can buy sandwich with sides or by the pound. You walk up to pick up your food when it is ready.

The food was fine but they prices are crazy for what you get. I got the three meat plate and paid extra for ribs and brisket because I wanted to try them out. The total for my plate was around $35. I knew it was expensive but thought I would be getting a good amount of food. There was a spoonful of pulled pork, two small ribs, and dry brisket. It was really disappointing.

Very homestyle, rustic BBQ joint. When I think of BBQ this is the place I think of. The food was fantastic! A new favorite for us here in Charleston. I highly recommend getting a “plate” meal so you can try some sides. One plate is really enough to feed 2 people. Can’t wait to go back!

Awesome place for bbq! Rib was tender; pulled away from the bone easily. Finally homemade macaroni and cheese delicious! Not that millennial noodles and cheese stuff . Loved the hash and rice, brisket was a little dry. Favorite sauce was the spicy version. Very clean. Will be back!

We honestly probably eat here at least once a week – I alternate between the Cheeseburger, Big Chick, or lately I’ve been ordering just 3-4 sides. The food is great. Portions are big. One of the best burgers in town! My go to sides are hash and rice, green beans and Mac and cheese. It’s very nostalgic for me growing up close by, and I love that it’s still owned by the same family. If you’re looking for an easy place to stroll in for a good meal this is it – sort of a hybrid between fast food and a sit down restaurant which we love!

We were on our way back from Patriots Point and were hungry and craving BBQ. We saw this place on our at lunch and the parking lot was full, indicating a good choice on our part. We placed our order, didn’t have to wait long, they call your name and you go get your food. The brisket sandwich was awesome. I didn’t know you could put that much meat on a bun. Wife ordered pulled pork. She noticed a twang. It was mustard, which brings me to the sauce. The sauce is mostly mustard based which is kind of a turn off for us. I like a nice balance of brown sugar, tomato and hickory and the sauce just didn’t make it for us. Meat was tender, good portions and no other complaints.
