We came here after a hike on the Beaudry Loop Hike. There’s a line waiting to get inside since “only 6 are allowed inside the store at one time”, but the line moved pretty. I was told that this is like a traditional Swiss bakery, and the bread looks authentic. I tried the breakfast with Bacon and it was served warm and it was good. I like the outdoor seating area with plenty of seats for a big group. You can get all the condiments for coffee and water in the little station out the door, so it was convenient. Service was great. They brought the coffee and food out.

It’s unfortunate that they require you to order a week ahead for a sandwich cake, or any “specialty cake”.

Responding to the owner’s comment here: I did *not* need a sandwich cake in less than 24 hours. But I could have used a more timely email response from you, since you require all orders be sent by email only. I drove from another part of town to your cafe to get an answer, of which your counter staff said I “should have ordered a week ago”. Regardless… it’s clear you need to take sandwich cake off your menu, since you don’t make them. Luckily they are super easy and quick to make, so I’ll be making it myself 🙂 I’ve changed my review from 2 stars to 5 stars, as I’m grateful you inspired me to make my own.

Best bakery around! Came for the princess cake, bought a few extras to try out and after trying them immediately ordered all my thanksgiving pies and pastries. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The cranberry pie with almond cream and pear almond cake were gone within minutes at our thanksgiving. Make sure to order in advance for holidays, we almost missed the order window.

I had the worst experience ever I went in today 12/6/2025 In place an order for 27 rolls on Christmas Eve morning I paid the cashier and lady that took my order was very nice then I get a call from Ixvar Telling me that my order must be placed at a minimum of $50 mine came to $27.95 That I either needed to add to my order or cancel it. But they would not make an exception after me standing in line for one hour I asked to speak to the owner Mrs. Carlson and she was rude and unhelpful. She should not be an owner of a customer service industry. They made the mistake of placing my order. I drive home and I get a phone call that I can’t have that order after I’ve paid. I still have not gotten my refund!!! But they were quick to email me that my order was canceled. Go to Eagle rock bakery such a better place. People are nice helpful and they treat their customers right with delicious bakery foods! I will never ever spend my hard earned money at this bakery Again!!!

Overall, the bread is pretty decent, and the pastries are delicious. However, I feel that over the years their quality has declined. I’m not sure if the ingredients are not as good or maybe they lost their more experienced/competent people (usually preparation methods don’t change much). The workers also don’t seem to be quite happy there. My impression is that this is a business in decline, hoepfully they can turn things around because they used to be the best in the area.

The pastries aren’t bad, but the young workers need basic etiquette! Talk about how rude this one girl was when I simply asked for a receipt. She had a sulky face that made me leave the bakery with a bad taste in my mouth.

A 3.75-star from me. Afternoon drinks and dessert time. Brownie and other pastry are okay, they are not to die for. I am not a fan of sweets also, so I was hoping the brownie was a bit bitter but to my taste, it was too sweet.
This is a nice place though in one of La Cañada’s street corner. Outdoor area are nice to sit in afternoon time, while you are chatting with whoever accompanied you.
I am not sure if they have restroom. Street parking. Price is reasonable. Most staff (I think) are friendly. The one served us that day was okay, not too friendly, but maybe she had a rough day so I was okay with it because she still tried to serve nicely even though I could tell from her ‘flat’ intonation that she just wanted to get over serving us. So I wrapped it up as quickly as I can.
