We had reservations at 715 They were literally out of just about everything. The owner and manager blamed the cook and waitresses. The waitresses were wonderful. It is 9:00 and we still have not received our food. This was unacceptable and by far the worst experience I have ever had at Bernie’s. . Please if you see Zoe and Leslie. Please commend and give them tips. They literally were crying. Do better Bernie’s owner. You should have your staffs back!!!!

If there were an option there would be no star. We will give the star to the wait and cook staff. The manager and owner of this establishment have completely abdicated their responsibility as leaders. This is not a matter of being “short-handed” or overwhelmed—this is a failure of ownership, accountability, and basic management. If you hold a leadership position, you should be fully knowledgeable of every role in your business and prepared to step in competently when needed. Instead, what we witnessed was upper management deflecting blame and sacrificing their own employees to cover for their incompetence.
They claimed to have an updated 86 board, yet critical items were not communicated, leaving the waitstaff uninformed and set up to fail. To make matters worse, blame was then shifted to the cooks—despite the obvious fact that cooks and servers do not order food. That responsibility lies squarely with management. Rather than owning their failures, the owner and manager chose to throw their staff—people who should be able to trust them—under the bus.
The result was heartbreaking. Employees were visibly upset, crying, discouraged, and humiliated over circumstances entirely beyond their control. Some of these employees were minors and should never have been placed in such a hostile, negligent situation. While management smiled, laughed, and helped themselves to food, it was the patrons who were left comforting and encouraging the staff. After two hours, we canceled our meal and paid only for our drinks and appetizers—not out of anger toward the staff, but out of respect for them.
We have frequented this establishment many times in the past and always enjoyed it. That ends now. As long as the current owner and management remain in control, we will not return. There was no leadership, no organization, and no respect shown for the people who keep this business running. As a former waitress and bartender, and as a parent, I am appalled. If my child were employed here, this treatment would absolutely be addressed.
I am typically a peacemaker—but this experience crossed a line. This was, without question, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Not because of the staff—but because of management’s ignorance, laziness, and complete failure to lead.

The salads we had were decent, although the dressing was a bit spicier than expected, while the chicken and cheese quesadilla was just fine, and the gator bites appetizer actually did taste pretty good, but I do not recommend the pork skins at all because they were disappointingly hard and flavorless. Also, there was some crab shell in the crab cake appetizer as well. It’s better than the typical fast food while on a road trip, but you can do better too.

And a stall door in the women’s restroom instead of a simple curtain would have been an improvement.

Went there for dinner on a Saturday night. Ordered one of each of the steaks. 2 steaks with 2 sides a piece shouldn’t be $84. The steaks had no flavor except for the burnt grill flavoring. The sides of green beans were under cooked, like hard as a rock. The amount of money paid for our meals was ridiculous for the quality that was brought to the table. Menu prices were different from menu to menu. Best part if dinner was the waitress service and the sweet tea tastes amazing.

Foods were great and reasonably priced. Waitress took our drink orders. One of which was water. She kept forgetting to bring that 1 water. The table on the back deck was filthy as noted when I went to wipe it with a napkins. It came off as looking like black soot, and lots of it

We just moved to Swainsboro in July, my son & his fiancé were in town this weekend & We were excited to take them to a local place that we hadn’t tried yet! Berni’s on Main. Joke was on us!! They had been there before. Didn’t realize it until we were inside. They ate there when they stayed at the family farmhouse… future DIL kept saying that downtown Swainsboro looked really familiar. She was right. Then my son took a bite of my shrimp & grits & I took a bit of his hamburger steak… & we switched meals they were both delicious!! We just decided we like what each other ordered better this time. Great place, although we were a little disappointed that several of this meals we were interested in were not available, including some of the specials. Service was a little slow. The waitress was trying but overwhelmed, she wasn’t bad, just busy, we will definitely be back, just not on a Saturday-holiday weekend…

Also, portions are large. I have enough of the hamburger steak for lunch tomorrow… & same with my soon-to-be DIL’s hamburger…

Used to come here years ago and we loved it. Went over thanksgiving and bartender advised we could only get a drink if she could look it up on Google. Went again today for dinner. Food was eh, staff was pleasant however Christmas music was playing, then customer put on football with volume with Christmas music and kitchen has rap music playing loud enough to hear. At bar. Needless to say dinner was not enjoyable. I will be taking a break from Bernies. Miss whe the dad ran it.

Great food. Excellent catfish chowder. Was taken here by coworkers. When I asked where we were going for lunch, they didn’t hesitate to say we were heading for Bernie’s. Good choice.

Berni’s has been on my radar since the recommendation of a local antiques shop owner told us about it, so when we got the chance we jumped at it. Berni’s is in a cool location with plenty of parking in front and across the street in the square, it is an old building with a real cool layout. The booths are somewhat enclosed so your not bothered by those around you, the tables in the center are distanced well enough apart and there is an outdoor seating area as well. The kitchen is enclosed in glass so you can see everything that goes on in there if you choose to do so.We had Ashlyn as our server and she was able to answer all of my questions and gave excellent recommendations with solid reasonings behind them. We got warm dinner rolls with a creamy honey butter that were a great start to the meal. I started with the bacon wrapped oysters that has a unique dipping sauce that looks but is not spicy. For my entrée I chose the steak sandwich with the prime rib instead of the ribeye option, it comes with au jus that was delicious and not salty like most seem to be. For my side I had the fried okra that was good and not overly breaded. My friend got the Creamy chicken gnocchi special that he said was amazing. We went to Berni’s on a Friday night at 6 at night with every booth full, the outside seating was full of high schoolers headed to prom and we waited for nothing. Our orders were taken promptly, drinks and food came quickly and just as we had ordered. My hats off to the Berni’s kitchen and wait staff for a job well done. I can assure you that we will be back!

Our waitress was an angel. She suggested the fried pickles spears – which were just what we needed after an active day. I had shrimp and grits and saved half for breakfast tomorrow. My Mom had Chicken Parmesan which was also delicious and saved half for breakfast. Another great thing about saving some of our meals for later is we each had a full piece of insanely delicious pie. I had Pecan Toffee and she had Salted Caramel. I’m ready for bed after my delicious food and a long day.
Dessert was so good I forgot to take a picture!
