Best place before, during and after Cubs games! Been coming here for years. Food is solid. Great beers on tap. Staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Recently came here for beer and fries. Served by waitress Ashley, she was very friendly and welcoming. Food was great, fresh and hot. Perfect for before the game. Highly recommended!

My group of 4 went in after a Cubs game on 7/6/2025 and ordered drinks on the patio, we were then told that they were closing the patio so we had to go inside, which we did in a room next to where the main bar is. At 10:30pm on a Sunday ( the website says it’s open till 2:00am) we went up to the bar to order another drink, the bartender told us we couldn’t because they already called last call and we missed it, we were okay with that and headed back to our table to get our belongings when we noticed she proceeded to pour drinks for others. We asked her about it and she was very rude, she called her bouncer who was also rude.
We were not drunk or rude we legit wanted to know why others were being served after she told us we couldn’t because last call was done. We used to go to Bernie’s all the time when we had season tickets and thought it would be a fun way to end our night. We are older in our 50’s maybe that was the problem, because we weren’t 20 something’s like the people she kept serving. It’s a shame the way they were so rude. I didn’t get the bartenders name but the bouncer is Ron. Obviously We will never be going back there. They don’t want our service anyway.
If you want to be treated poorly then I would recommend going here, if not then as the bartender told me there are several other bars around. A great one is Sluggers, Tin Roof provides live music always a fun time there. Yak-Zies has friendly bartenders and amazing wings, Murphys is always a good choice. The Cubby Bear is a fun spot too. She was right about having other options I thank her for that recommendation. Bernie’s is a definite thumbs down. Thank god we only gave them money for 1 drink and didn’t waste anymore money there. We did end up going to a bar a few blocks away on Southport called Langes they were extremely welcoming the bartender there Amanda is so very friendly every time we’ve been there and always happy to see us. That is how you should be treated when spending hard earned money at an establishment.
I hope this review helps customers and I hope Bernie’s management sees this and maybe offers its employees customer friendly training.
Update. I’ve also tried to reach out to management and have gotten no reply or acknowledgment of my emails. I guess they just really don’t care. That’s a shame since they are in a business That relies on the public.
I reached out to the management several times and never got a response back.

You can’t go wrong with some bar apps… and Bernie’s does it better than most. Plenty to choose from and portions generous enough to go around

Came here for a lowkey lunch – a step up from fast food but without the high price – and this was exactly what we were looking for. Great atmosphere, both inside and outside.

Located in a great part of the city, perfect if you want grab a bite before/after hopping around the little shops in the area.

Great spot to go before a cubs game. Indoor and outdoor seating. Not too crazy or loud. Classic old school Wrigley. The area is missing more of what bernie’s is all about.

Keep an eye on your credit card statement when you get it. My wife and I visited Bernie’s before a game in August and each had two beers. Our bill came to $49.70 with tip. However, when I was going over my credit card statement, not only was that charge on there, but there was an additional charge for $273.20. We were only there for about an hour and didn’t even eat! Something fishy is going on here….

We were there for pre game activities. We didn’t eat but the drinks were good. Atmosphere was excellent for baseball fans, although I had to explain to a couple people who the Chicago American Giants were. I had fun reconnecting with my college teammates.

I can’t speak about the bar specifically bc I never got in. The door guy refused to accept a state issued temporary id. It’s a legal document issued by the state of NC. It literally has my picture. I even bought my voter registration which has both my birthday and my address which matched the id. I’m 30 years old. I can see if it was like a 22 year old. What kid with a fake is going to claim 30 lmao. I barely want to admit I’m 30. Lol

To add even more insult to injury he is like do you have the physical copy? What kind of stupid question Is that? If I had the physical copy why would I be using the temporary lmao. My luggage went missing at o hare so my license is currently wherever my luggage is.

It’s a shame bc from the outside looking in it looked like a fun bar. Interesting enough the bar next door lost never found(an upscale bar vs Bernie’s dive bar aesthetic) accepted the Id with no issue.

Met here pre Cubs game. Looks small from the outside but rooms in the back and beer garden. Place was packed but drinks served quickly. Great atmosphere!

My wife and I were visiting Chicago and were excited to see our SF Giants play the Cubs at Wrigley. We wanted to get a few drinks before the game but not at any of the sterile corporate bars. Bernie’s looked like it had some character so decided to give it a try. It was a little crowded but we were able to get 2 seats at the bar and quickly made friends with some Cubs fans. Our bartender was a little standoffish at first but then warmed up, even giving us some tequila shots.

I’d definitely come back here again

A great place to get lubed up for a baseball game!
