Such a great place, 6 of us had dinner and drinks and the service was outstanding, our server( I forgot her name) but she was going to costarica when they close for the season. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was great. We had a little bit of everything from the menu. I highly recommend this place for just having a few drinks or having a great dinner with a bottle of wine and fantastic food.
The bathrooms were also very clean and plenty of parking.

Family decided to try Bernie’s for dinner. Had to wait about 20 minutes, not terrible for what seemed like a pretty busy night.
I ordered the Brazilian Steak Carnaval. I requested medium rare, but it came out more like medium to medium well. Food took a long time, so didn’t want to wait any longer for a correction.
Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food more or less. Although portions for price for most of the items weren’t great. Seems like a decent option for a beach town as long as the wait isn’t too long. Just don’t expect anything amazing.

We visited in August and again in September, based on a friend’s recommendation. While we have also frequented Barefoot Bernie’s, we actually prefer this location now. In August, it was a Friday night, so we knew they’d be busy. We liked the option to wait in our car and view from our phones where we were in the queue, when it was our turn to be seated. We were seated in the bar, which was lively but not too noisy. What really impressed us was the bartender (Danny?). He did not miss a beat! He covered a full bar AND made sure his tables had the coverage needed. It’s rare one can do that well and he struck the perfect balance, during an incredibly busy time, impressive. We returned for lunch on Friday in September, seated in the dining area, and our server took great care of us as well. Both times I had the fish and chips and they were delicious. Other in the party had a cheesesteak, also happy with it. Parking was a bit tight in August, but if you’re doing takeaway, there are two spaces. There’s also overflow parking in the shopping center next door. Restrooms were clean and stalls were not tiny, always a bonus. We look forward to returning.

We really enjoy this place every time we’re in Corolla. We make sure this is a stop every time we’re down (even when it was the tomato patch). It’s been consistent for years now. Really enjoy the parrot wings. If you don’t want to wait, the bar is also a great spot to eat at.

Bernie’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Corolla. Whenever my family and I come to town, we always come here at least twice. There is so many options for everyone and their Fish and Chips is the best I’ve ever had. The employees are kind and attentive plus the atmosphere is inviting.
2025 Update: Honestly, this is really the only dinner restaurant that we love coming too. The food is amazing, the staff is incredibly attentive and caring, plus the atmosphere is wonderful. It’s the kind of beach place you want and are looking for when you come. I don’t think there’s anything on this menu that we’ve gotten that hasn’t been good. We keep coming back and you should too!

Food and service were both great. Our waitress was very nice and all the food came out quickly. Nashville hot wings were very flavorful. Definitely spicy. I got the fish and chips, which were very good and my boyfriend got the jerk shrimp and mahi mahi which he said had a great flavor and he enjoyed it a lot. He didn’t like the rice or Cole slaw though.

Went twice during our week in OBX and enjoyed it both times. Service was good and food was delicious. We are a party of 6 and tried a lot of the menu over our two visits and we all enjoyed our food both visits. A highlight was the appetizer tuna poke bowl. Impressed with the amount of fresh tuna in the bowl for the price. At home they give me about 1/3 as much for a higher price. Fish and chips, Brazilian steak, Pad Thai and Mac n cheese (appetizer) were also highlights. Can’t go wrong with the salted caramel cheesecake for dessert!

Had a great dining experience! Our server Rob was super chill and helpful. When arriving, I let the hostess know we had a young man in a wheelchair in our party and they were completely accommodating and accessible. Highly recommend the chicken tinga tacos and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich.

We arrived as a group of 3 and were told the wait was about an hour. Waited at the bar and had some drinks while tracking the wait time online. Also got a text when our table was ready. Note-it gets chilly outside in the evening!
Tex mex pineapple margarita- a bit sweet and not too spicy. I’d have loved it to be spicier, but it looked good and tasted just fine.
The chicken health stack meal was very flavorful and enjoyable. Food and appetizer took awhile to arrive but the setting was relaxing.
There are 2 couches with a cute fire feature but given how windy it was, we couldn’t use it. Very nice staff and a lovely place for a meal.
