I guess my grandmother came here a lot when I was a child. I’m 39 now. We stopped for some reason when I got into my teens. A few weeks ago I got a sandwich that was an a1 delight. Now I come in for the deli meat and sausage. This place is awesome. Go support these people. Leave the Walmart and the big Y. Go shop at Bernats for all your deli needs. You won’t be disappointed

Went with my Italian wife on 2/19/26 and we both loved it! It’s not a huge store which makes the atmosphere more personable and the staff was super friendly and helpful explaining what everything is. We got almost everything from the hot food station and some kapuska from the fridge. Everything was great! Me and my wife highly recommend it

Whenever I am out in Western Mass/ Chicopee area, stopping at Bernat’s is a must do. Personally, I recommend the Pastrami sandwich. One of the best! I’ll also pick up some Kielbasa and other Polish brand items. I’ve never been to Poland, but feel as if I’m in a neighborhood store in Poland. The staff is friendly and service is great.

One of my favorite places, I really like the bread here but, you have to buy it just at the right time to get it fresh. They make their own ham and kielbasa. They have an extra low salt variety with little preservatives. I think everybody notices the high quality in the food, super easy to get hooked, NOT high priced.
Update, since I left this review last week the bread has been fresh every day. I LOVE the plain rye bread from Rolly Polly bakery, I eat it plain all day long.

Pleasantly surprised with their product selections and tasty meats. I throughly enjoyed the Polish Plate and Polish sweets I purchased. I will be back here the next time I am in the area. My stomach says thank you!!!!

This past Friday was the first of what I hope to be many trips to Bernat’s. First, the store had a very welcoming aura; it was immaculate and yet cozy at the same time. And I may not be a food expert, but I am 100% Polish through and through and so I’ve eaten A LOT of pierogies in my lifetime and it is not an exaggeration when I say that their cheese pierogies are the best you will ever encounter in your life.
I live an hour away but it doesn’t matter. Bernat’s is definitely my new go-to for all things Polish.

First time visiting. Interesting selection of polish food. We bought several things, including 2 different types of pierogis, which were fabulous! Every worker, and there were several, was behind the deli counter cutting meat, etc. Nobody was at the grocery register. We stood behind a gentleman who waited 10 min for someone to pay attention to him. After he was rung up, instead of taking us who were next in line, the worker grabbed the groceries from the customer behind us. This happened twice until we pushed our stuff in front of who they were going to take next. None of it made sense, and it was quite rude. If there was a different process, they should tell you what it is. If it was a process to wait behind 10 people who were being served at the deli counter, that is ridiculous if you aren’t buying anything at the deli. I would definitely return for the pierogis, but I hope for a better experience…

Great local shop! The selection and variety both in the deli department as well as the imported Polish grocery section is quite extensive! And they make their own kielbasa and deli meats too (With no flour or needless fillers, gluten free!) The owners are wonderful and the staff is pleasant!

Kick-ass sandwiches. Awesome food selection. Amazing baked goods and a fun selection of imported polish products. Highly recommend. Service is direct and brusque.

If you are looking for an authentic experience… this is absolutely IT!
Researching lunch spots and Bernats came up as a suggestion for “something different “! I was a bit intimidated at the vast assortment of products from drinks, chocolate, Knorrs envelopes with anything from making borscht soup to chicken breast breading!
While I was in line to pay, I asked if this area concentrated on the Polish nationality (everyone spoke the language) and was told this particular area hosted Polish, Russian and Ukraine cultures. This is not a drive-by!
