We had excellent service and food! The caesar and blackened chicken was the best I’ve ever had – so delicious. Perfect amount of dressing (don’t like when a caesar is skimpy on it), chicken was super tender and juicy and the parmesan bowl an unexpected and unique accent.

The restaurant is small and very quaint. They accommodated our party of 8 easily but I wouldn’t try for bigger. Perfect fit 2-4 size parties. The food was amazing. I had bourbon glazed salmon. The portions are big so you will probably go home with another meal. We all enjoyed our drinks as well. Definitely going back when we want a great meal downtown.

Hands down the best food I had all weekend while visiting Roanoke. The crab cakes and buffalo wings were incredible. I’m a Marylander so I can vouch for the Crab being Maryland crab. The wings were incredible I even got some to take to the hotel to eat later. the service was amazing as well which is saying a lot since it was only two people working the restaurant side. The bartender and server worked together to make sure everyone was taken care of beautifully. Thank you Bernards you set the bar very high for all of Roanoke restaurants.

Ordered wings, wedge salad, and a glazed salmon entree that came with potatoes & asparagus. Super good meal. Salmon glaze 15/10– potatoes & asparagus cooked perfectly. Wedge salad had super fresh veg, very enjoyable. Not sure if the sauces are homemade in-house, but the blue cheese and ranch were phenomenal; the wing sauces were great. I was able to choose 2 sauces for my wings, which I preferred to get on the side— I was delighted at how well the plain fried wings were seasoned without sauce. Definitely a must-try if in the area. The ambiance is super cozy. Love being able to see the cooks @ work— who clearly know what they’re doing.

We tried this place on a whim and it was outstanding. The service was great, we were able to park right outside on the street, and the atmosphere was really cool.

The food was very well prepared, really tasty and the portions were generous.

It wasn’t cheap, but it didn’t break the bank either. The entrees and sandwiches were all around 20, which is good for dinner.

The pear martini was delicious!

Went to Bernard’s for brunch on Saturday 01/17/26, it was excellent. Ordered the crab cakes Benedict. Some of the best crab cakes I have had. Perfect medium poach on the eggs. Very impressed. Burgers and hand cut fries looked good and we will try next time!

Some of the best tasting food I’ve ever eaten! Mathew the bartender was full of information. The food is cooked solely by the owners. They have a selection of different bitters you can pick from for their “old fashioned “. I’ll order crab cakes at any chance the theirs were 100% amazing. The chicken picatta was creamy and flavorful. Made exceptionally! Only bad side was if you’re a little bit bigger you can’t fit at the bar. The stools were too high.

We had a wonderful dining experience! The care, camaraderie and attention from ALL the servers, particularly Matt and Rachael were top-notch – they made us feel right at home . I had the Lump crab cakes and my friend the seafood trio special . Food and drinks were DELICIOUS, and the ambience was just perfect. Menu has several great options, I’d come back just to try them all. Highly recommend!

Bernards is our favorite place to eat in Roanoke. We go for every special occasion and anytime for date night. The brown sugar habenaro wings, chicken and dumplings, seafood trio (best scallops and risotto anywhere), and short ribs are some of our favorites. The brunch is also amazing. The food is always steaming hot and prepared fresh. Matt is our go to, but we really like Jimmy and Rachel too. One of the few places we eat that i am never disappointed or leave thinking we could have eaten better and cheaper at home. Always a real treat.
