Our waitress was very friendly and kept checking back with us to see if we needed anything. My husband and I both picked the bbq rib special that came with 2 sides. We both had coleslaw, he had a baked potato, I had sweet potato fries. We were served a large portion of ribs that were delicious. Our sides were tasty too. This was our first time eating here, but it won’t be our last.

I had this Cafe on our Summer Food Bucketlist, we had not been here for several years. So, we thought we’d check it out. The remodel is super modern with a hummingbird flare… CUTE! 4 seating areas/rooms, 1 bar. You can choose where you’d like to sit. The sweet tea is super delicious! Waitresses were friendly and worked fast! My husband ordered the Full tenderloin. I had the Catfish Fillets with a side of the BEST Potato Salad ever!!!!! It was perfect. During our visit there was a huge party/reunion in the back and my husband felt alittle rushed to hurry up and eat. I ended up giving him my tea, because his drink went dry. It is cash only. No credit/debit cards. Most businesses are going to cashless. Which led to a 4 star rating! It would be great to have both options. We took two Fried Chicken Dinners to go for our friends and they loved them! Overall, great atmosphere, fresh entrees, very relaxed and the menu works for all ages! Bathrooms were clean and well stocked! Great job!

I love coming here when Im back in Illinois! I grew up in Ipava came every summer camping & fishing with family! Also used to ride my bike with friends to get ice cream cone…great memories! At age 52 now this place has grown so much from when I was a kid but the welcoming/friendly people are the same! Im happy to see this place still in business after many years! And thriving! It makes my heart smile to feel such nostalgia ❤️

If you like home cooked comfort food that will remind you of dinner at Grandma’s at Easter, then the Bernadotte Café is the place to go! The servers are friendly and polite. Remember this is not fast food, so sit down relax and enjoy cause they don’t have cell service. Oh, cash or checks only please. Also save room for homemade pie or their strawberry shortcake.

We were attending the first day of spoon river drive and decided to stop in here for a quick bite to eat after hearing good things. We get in and all 7 of us are just standing there as waitresses keeping walking past us. Eventually, we were told that we could seat ourselves. We did, and you could definitely tell someone had just eaten there before us. There were crumbs and grease on the table.
We sat there for about 10 minutes until our waitress even came to ask what we’d like to drink. They didn’t have 7 menus, so we had to pass our 4 down the table so the people with me could see what they had. I ordered a pony shoe and was very excited for it. My boyfriend was torn between the fried tilapia and the cheeseburger. The waitress tells him the fried tilapia is literally just that between two buns. No tartar sauce, nothing. He settles for the cheeseburger after telling him how good those are. She brings it out, and it’s a hamburger patty on a bun with a slice of american cheese. That’s it, and they don’t have the option for you to add any sort of toppings. My pony shoe was awful. A hamburger puck smothered in fries and cheese sauce with no flavor. My pony shoe was $13.00. The overall experience sucked, my boyfriend had to go find our check. There’s nothing in here worth wasting your time for. They do not offer sides.

My family and I were in town for my sister’s wedding and this was the venue for the rehearsal dinner. We had porkchops and catfish filets for the main dishes. They were so fresh and the sides were baked beans, slaw, and cheesy potatoes. A home cooked meal like you would get a grandma’s house. So warm and amazing in my tummy! I definitely recommend this little spot! Its in a beautiful location as well! If I could rate it a 10/10 I would!

First time here. We drove an hour to get here. The fried chicken was great. The apple salad was good. Husband loved the baked potato and said the baked beans were fantastic. Will be back to try the rest of the menu.

Went for scored Buffalo and wasn’t disappointed. Very good white flesh fish , scored correctly, seasoned and fried right. Good sides, potato salad and baked beans. Quick and friendly Wait staff. Enjoyed our meal. Will go back again.
