We were there on a weekend post holiday and they were busy….we were seated reasonably quickly (20min), would recommend reservations.
Didn’t have wine, but they had a rather large list of Italian wines.
Definitely make a stop at Beppe & Gianni’s Trattoria.
This cozy, charming spot offers a straightforward yet flavorful menu that gives you a real glimpse of Italy—fresh pastas, rich sauces, and classic Italian favorites done right.
Insider tip: Go early! They don’t take reservations, and seating is limited. It fills up fast, and for good reason.
There’s street parking nearby, and the staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive.
Come. Eat. Enjoy.
The staff were very nice and we were greeted and taken to a table right away.
The food was so so so good and tasty. We will definitely return when we are back down to Visit.
We went as a group of eight last weekend, and since they don’t take reservations, we waited outside in the freezing cold for almost an hour. The host stand seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. They also have a back patio that could be a great waiting area if it had heaters and bar service, but it was closed for the winter. When we were finally seated, we were tucked into a tight corner at what felt like a folding table covered with a tablecloth.
We were hungry and celebrating, so we were excited to finally sit down. I really wanted to like this place. I’ve been before and was unimpressed, but locals rave about it, so I hoped this visit would change my mind.
The appetizers were fine. We had the bruschetta and roasted garlic cambozola. The bread is grilled, but the char was too heavy and tipped into bitterness rather than a pleasant light toast. The cambozola and beans were tasty. The caprese was probably the highlight of the starters and was quite nice.
For my main, I ordered the halibut with caper butter sauce, green beans, and spaghetti pomodoro. The fish was good but nothing memorable. The green beans were plainly boiled with no seasoning or garnish, and the pomodoro was just okay. For a $40+ entrée, the overall plate felt very underwhelming. My friend ordered the Capelli d’Angelo alla Mediterranea. The scallops were large and there was plenty of shrimp, but the dish was bland. It was fine, but not exciting.
All in, we spent over $150 for two people, and the meal was just… fine. Nothing stood out, and nothing made the price feel justified. I wouldn’t come back.
Honestly, I would recommend Cafe Med or Pastini if you’re looking for a solid Italian meal in town.
While butter-and-wine-based clam dishes are quite common, this Italian spot offers a delightful twist with clams in tomato sauce as a starter—an excellent choice. The ravioli had an exceptionally fresh taste and rich flavor, and though the aglio e olio spaghetti would’ve benefitted from a slightly firmer al dente texture, the bigger issue was the lack of emulsified sauce from the pasta water and oil, which made the dish feel a bit dry. Still, the overall flavor balance was commendable.
For dessert, the ricotta cheesecake struck a lovely balance in both texture and taste. I finished with an espresso, which wrapped up a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. The staff provided outstanding service, making the visit even more memorable.
It’s definitely a place I’d recommend. diners take time either before or after the meal to enjoy a stroll in Washburne Park, located right next to the restaurant.
