We stopped at Bentonia Bugs while on our way to Dauphin Island, Alabama, and what a hidden gem! Don’t let the exterior fool you—this place is a must-visit. Between the four of us, we had the chicken bites, fried shrimp, catfish, raw oysters, and boiled shrimp, and every bite was fantastic. The flavors and freshness were truly impressive. It’s now a favorite, and we’ll definitely be returning on our next trip. Highly recommend—10/10!

We have dined at Bentonia Bugs from time to time for over 8 years, and it was good, once again. We ordered oysters as an appetizer which were fresh, plump and delicious. We ordered Boiled shrimp and it also was delicious. The establishment was clean, our server was very prompt and friendly, and overall we were pleased with our dinner.

I feel like I sometimes can seem to be generous with my 5 star reviews, but I really not, I have just had a run of excellent restaurants lately and this place was no exception. A small, simple, menu…and very very adaptable for keto (they have several non breaded proteins). This was, literally, one of the best steaks I have had in Mississippi. I am not exaggerating, the only steak that has been on par with this one was at a handful of substantially more expensive restaurants in Jackson. I would also add, their special greens etc. (hydroponically grown I believe) in their salad made for a pleasant surprise. Not you forgotten side salad, but rather a fresh a delightful side. While dressing selection is limited, I would recommend the Comeback Sauce as dressing (theirs is quite good). Is this the cheapest place around? No, (and not being able to sub the salad for the side without still paying full price was a bit unusual, though I suspect it is due to the quality of the ingredients) but it WELL WELL worth the money. Also, it isn’t expensive on say, Jackson standards, just a bit higher than you would typically find in the area it is in, but again, well worth it. If you want quality shrimp, steak, or salad there is nowhere in 30 miles of this place I would choose over it.

Bentonia bugs is awesome. Went there on a Friday night. We started with an appetizer of cheese sticks with some adult beverages. For dinner had a fresh salad and a steak that was cooked to perfection on their grill. My son had their grilled oysters (you gotta try these).
Too stuffed for desert. I’ll have to go back sometime for that.

We love their food! You can’t go wrong. The crawfish, shrimp, steak, or my favorite, chargrilled oysters, are all delicious. Their friendly staff make you feel right at home. It’s always a fun atmosphere at BB!!
