The clam chowder was incredible, the triple Belgian beer was delicious, and the evening ended perfectly with a gingerbread cookie.
What more could you ask for on a cold winter night in Gardiner, New York?
The staff taking our order were great—friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered a hot dog advertised as a “footlong,” but what I received was a very small, plain hot dog—definitely not what was described, and not worth the $8 price tag.
The $15 hamburger came with nothing on the side, and the bun was burned, which made it even more disappointing for the cost. The basket of fries (around $10) was actually good, probably the highlight of the meal.
What added to the frustration was that everything is self-serve—you pick up your own food and clean up after yourself, yet the prices feel like they should come with full service.
Overall, our meal came to $55, and for that price, the value just wasn’t there. Great service at the counter, but the food and overall experience didn’t match the cost.
They have an excellent selection of beers, and the food was more than solid, with generous portions that really hit the spot. The atmosphere is also a standout: very elegant, especially in the adjacent, separate space, which adds a nice touch if you’re looking for something a bit more refined.
Overall, a reliable and welcoming spot, even under tough conditions. Highly recommend!
If I were to mention something would be …. The greenhouse might have a wasp nest . I got stung while I was having lunch . But other than that …. Everything is nice and pretty perfect .
I ordered the blct sandwich and was disappointed. It is advertised as a bacon, lettuce, confit tomato sandwich. The tomatoes were sliced and uncooked. I wouldn’t have ordered that sandwich if I knew it was a plain blt. Because it is like a $12-15 sandwich… the bread was dry and huge and it was mostly lettuce. I did mention it to one of the employees and they said they were out of the confit tomatoes but this was after I had received and paid for my food. Not the end of the world by any means but not very considerate. No offer to correct or order something different.
My husband ordered the chicken and pickle sandwich. Not bad. But chick fil a is much better. But honestly the whole experience would have been better if we had a couple beers before our meal.
This place has a lot of potential. The space is beautiful and the neighbors have such a commitment to quality. It’s possible we ordered the wrong thing but it soured our experience that a menu item was not as it was described. Especially for the price.
