A lovely local Japanese restaurant! I have enjoyed a fabulous sushi dinner here many times. There is parking in the lot with all spaces just steps from the entry door and easy handicap access via a ramp. The staff is friendly and efficient with prompt delivery of courses and an attentive waitstaff. Every meal begins with a traditional hot moist towel for cleansing the hands and face. Their green tea is aromatic and nutty. As a sushi fan I always opt for the sushi menu which never disappoints, but they also offer an extensive menu of hot favorites. I vary between fried bananas, or green tea, red bean, or ginger ice cream for dessert. I’ve enjoyed many delicious dinners here and never had anything but excellence at this local gem.

Have been going here for years since my then boyfriend introduced me to Benten. We now live close by and only go here for sushi. The staff is so professional and pay attention to their service, which is so rare. I’ve found that there are tons of good sushi places in the area but so many of them have staff with major attitudes. We have always been so warmly greeted by the Benten staff. Their food is top quality and not cookie cutter like every other place in the area. Prices are reasonable too. We love how they begin the meal by giving you a clean warm towel and a sample of a cold appetizer. Such a nice touch that most restaurants don’t do. Wewill be forever customers!

As GOOD as it gets! I’ve been eating their food since they were in Miller Place, probably 15-20 years. Everything is always super fresh and well prepared. In addition to traditional Japanese dishes and sushi, they also have some really delicious innovative creations. Many dishes made with locally sourced fresh ingredients. You know you’re in the right place when the owner is the chef and takes a call from a ship captain and runs out the restaurant to meet him at the dock to pick up a fresh catch.

Benten is hands down the best sushi in Eastern Suffolk. It’s no wonder they’ve been here for 30 years. Chef Ken only uses the freshest fish. Took me a long time and eating a lot of sushi in other places to realize that. The test is whether you can bite right through it. If it’s not so fresh, you can’t. This place is not about flashy decor or trendy sushi rolls. If you’re looking for that, you won’t like Benten. But if you like traditional, and super-fresh, this is the place.

Delicious sashimi and rolls. The fish was incredibly fresh and the portions were large. I had the sashimi deluxe and the pieces were sliced twice as thick than any other sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. We went there hungry and we left stuffed.

I recently visited Benten for lunch and had a great experience. We were seated very quickly and our food was super fresh. During lunch we were provided with complimentary bean sprout salad and miso soup. The specialty sushi rolls we inventive and our food was super fresh and delicious. The one criticism I have is that the service was leisurely at best which would have been great for dinner but as I was on my lunch break, I do wish it was a bit speedier.

I do not like to give a bad review, as I am sure there are positives. I ordered the sushi and sashimi combo. A black bug crawled off my sushi as it was served. I assumed the waiter would replace the dish, but he never offered me anything else. Very strange. Still left him a 20 percent tip. He should be aware one must offer a replacement dish. I left starving. I know he was busy. Accidentally charged me for an extra Saki. I know mistakes are part of the biz, but…?
