Scott took me to Benson’s on the Mississippi Saturday night. We were seated right away & were lucky enough to get a window seat overlooking the Big Muddy! They had just started to get busy so service was a bit slow but we got our drinks quickly- beer & an old fashioned which was delish. We also didn’t wait long for our meals; I had scallops w/asparagus & Mac & cheese & he had the prime rib with mashed potatoes. Unfortunately my sides were very cool but I ate them (I’m not overly picky, lol) our meals tasted very good. We shared a slice of cheesecake for dessert with strawberry sauce that was to die for. I look forward to future meals here & hopefully will catch a nice sunset during better weather

This place is a hidden gem! Stephanie offers exceptional service while her husband Bud creates magic in the kitchen. Although, Steph’s bread pudding is to die for and Bud’s smoked prime rib melts in your mouth.
Seriously, one of the best restaurants I have been to. Check it out!

Update: This is the 3rd time dining at Benson’s.
This time celebrating a special event. We had another great dining experience. Our dinner began with the scallop appetizer which was so delectable. Then we had a fresh house salad which was great. For our final entree we ordered prime rib. I’m telling you; there will be so much leftover, you can take home for another meal fit for a king/queen the next day!
Finished off with dessert of cinnamon roll cheesecake. So yummy! We love Benson’s!
I encourage you to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!

Hearing a lot about this place had to give it a try.. And I have to tell you it was well worth it!! We will definitely be back!! I had the rack of ribs which were amazing! We also had the stuffed mushrooms Which were different than I’ve had anywhere else but still good. My wife had the shrimp which I cannot tell you enough was out of this world!! They were huge and delicious. The cheesecake was amazing! I have to tell you everything was made to perfection. Place was clean the bathrooms were clean and the service was super great . The ride there along the Mississippi Was nice lots of great scenery there. And the views from the restaurant of Mississippi were nice too. I really can’t say enough about this place you need to experience it for yourself. This is a must put on your bucket list for some great dining and great views. Total package here! Thank you Benson for the great eating experience, And the great hospitality. you made us feel welcome.

Smoked prime rib was the star of my visit! It truely is as good as it looks. The view of the river right from our table made our visit even better. I felt very welcomed and comfortable. Dessert was cheesecake with a holiday beer on tap, both great. You all have got the check this place out!

Wonderful place to eat, get there early to get a window seat looking over the Mississippi River. The Prime Rib was great, nice smoke flavor. The beef brisket was tender, juicy and full of smoke flavor. Great service and wonderful mixed drinks.

If you want your steak cooked to order you do not want to go this restaurant, I asked my steak to be cooked well done the waitress politely told me that they do not cook steaks well done. I did not argue I then ordered a loaded bake potato with beef brisket in the potato.

I find it odd that you can’t get the steak you are going to eat that you are going to pay for cooked well done because it offends the cook. I wonder if the same cook also prepared the Beef Brisket that was cooked in my baked potato? It was not only well done but Brunt Blackened Dry as Dried Out like a Piece of Beef Jerky left out in the American West during the Settlement of our Western Frontier. The best way to explain just how dry it was the first bite of the Dried out Brisket almost broke my tooth.

Everything was not bad the Waitress was very professional and polite. The view is absolutely breathtaking!! My last Commanding Officer in Iraq we were his and his wife’s guest. Their food was perfect that everyone else ordered.

The waitress told us about the Famous Cheesecake! I saw another person eating a piece of Cheesecake!! It was honestly the biggest piece of any kind of pie I or my wife had ever seen. I asked the Waitress if my wife and could split the Cheesecake between us and she told us yes. We ordered it with Strawberry and when we got I was shocked and stunned by the sheer size! You could actually feed a family of 4 people. I have reduced my own sugar intake but Strawberry Cheesecake is my Achilles Heel. I took a bite, and in my short 52 years I have never experienced such a great Cheesecake! My unfortunate wife barely got 3 bites before before her 6ft 2 U.S. Army Officer husband had ate the entire pie!

The Cheesecake made up for the “Brisket” the whole atmosphere and the view was breathtaking. I listened to everyone at my table and didn’t say very much during dinner because the view looking over the Mississippi River was great and everyone at my table was enjoying their meal.

Overall 94%!!

This is a nice little rivertown restaurant. If you come while it is light out, you may be lucky enough to sit by the wall of windows and enjoy the view of the Mississippi River. I would try to get a reservation if this is a priority to you. The parking is curbside and can be a little tight.
The prices are a little high for the area, but the time and talent to make smoked meats make the prices understandable.
The food was good, but there were several things we tried to order, but they were out of those options, so we may have enjoyed them more than what we settled for. Everything from the asparagus to the meats was pretty heavy in black pepper and spices, so it tended to be spicy, which not everyone at the table appreciated. It might not have seemed so spicy if the food was served with some type of bread like at most other bbq type places. We did enjoy the pickles and onion on the plate as the vinegar cut some of the fattines that meat tends to have.
I can’t say enough good about the service as they were top notch very kind and attentive.

A local gem! Great views of the Mississippi, delicious food served hot by a friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service staff. The pride of the owners to provide a clean, welcoming restaurant is very apparent! Great seafood offerings and hand crafted, in-house BBQ. Real mashed potatoes, tasty cooked brown fries and incredible deserts, especially, the bread pudding with bourbon sauce, reminiscent of the bread pudding at The Bon Ton in New Orleans. The bar is well appointed and welcoming. “I shall return”. Well done owners & staff at ‘Benson’s’. KUDOS!!!

Benson’s never disappoints. The food is unique and amazing and the views of the river are icing in the cake. We tried the specials tonight so Pan Fried Walleye and the Tomohawk Steak! Started with the Fried Goat Cheese. Worth the drive from the Quad Cities so check out this gem along the Mississippi.
