Benson’s does a great job of offering homemade and vegan ice cream specialties in a country setting. Their servings are rather large so be careful. They’re half scoop is the equivalent of most single scoops. We tried the black raspberry and the ginger ice cream both which were excellent. You pay you pay a little bit more but it’s considered premium homemade ice cream. There are also gluten-free and vegan options for those with special dietary needs. There’s ample parking and a sitting area with picnic tables. All in I’d read it on A-.

We went yesterday for Father’s Day and it was as busy as ever even though the sky’s looked like they were about to open up the entire time we were there. This happened to be our first visit of the year and they had a few new flavors we’d never seen before including banana and a few sugar free flavors. If you do happen to go to Benson’s soon when they still have their native strawberry available make sure to try it with the banana. You certainly won’t be disappointed if you do. There is not a bad choice to be made on the entire menu and don’t ever hesitate to try the new flavors because 9/10 times they’re a home run. These couple photos are from last year and look to be native blackberry or black raspberry and red raspberry and the other one is anyone’s guess. Also make sure to check out their native flavor schedule on social media so you dont miss out because they go fast when available!

Benson’s was a very big disappointment. I had heard for a couple of years on how good there is cream was,, but neither my daughter or I finished ours because of how tasteless and off putting the texture. Ice cream was so watery tasting that it tasted like it was made with skim milk than with cream. It also was not smooth but had small ice crystals throughout. We both had the the chocolate chip cookie dough. There was very little dough and the ice cream and the large amount of chocolate chips had a chaulky consistency to them. There are far better ice cream man places in the area, and

got a hair in my ice cream halfway through eating it. otherwise staff was lovely. $7 is a little steep for one scoop but since it’s homemade I thought it was worth it. too bad I live kinda far and couldn’t go get my money back

Real homemade ice cream with fresh native fruit. I got the maine blueberry frappe and it was delicious! Appreciate the compostable cups and straws too. I can’t wait to go back again and try the black raspberry ice cream! If I were able I would have taken a few pints home.

Not only does Benson’s have great ice cream, they are also very kind people. When my stepdad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and could only eat soft foods, I reached out to see if there was any way to get his favorite flavor, even though they were closed for the season. To my surprise and gratitude, they not only responded but generously gave me a big tub free of charge. I’ll never forget it, and now I stop by every time I’m in town in his memory. If you ever order the black raspberry, please think of Kevin Lawless.
