Stopped in for a quick slice of pepperoni. It was a crunchy oily delight – A bib and oil remover (for your hands) are essential eating tools for this job. Next time I’m getting me a whole pie

Benny’s is, for my money, without a doubt THE BEST pizza in SLO City and probably County as well. The Detroit style crust is both perfectly crunchy and airy, the sauce is flavorful without being too sweet, and the toppings are excellent as well. My wife loves their pasta as well, very customizable and always hits the spot. We’ve seen Benny himself around the restaurant a few times, and the vibe inside is welcoming and chill whether you’re with friends and family or watching sports near the bar. Cant say enough good things about Benny’s and their pizza.
SLO staple.

Great local pizzeria/pub. We went on a weekday during the summer holidays so it was very quiet, but it must have a great ambiance at peak times. The pepperoni pizza was very good!
They serve local draft beers which were tasty!

There’s a reason this place has such high ratings on Google, and let me tell you—it’s well deserved. Getting a 4.5+ rating isn’t easy, and my hat’s off to this small business for pulling it off (if I wore hats, that is).
First off, this deep-dish pizza joint is housed in what used to be an old Mexican restaurant, which makes me wonder if the ghost of tacos past is secretly whispering flavor secrets to the chefs. Whatever they’re doing, it’s working. The deep-dish pizza is a glorious, cheesy masterpiece, the salad is actually fresh (shocking, I know), and the beer? Ice cold, just the way nature intended.
The night I visited, they had live music, and the place was packed—but that didn’t stop the young staff from absolutely crushing it. They were beyond friendly, super attentive, and handled the crowd like pros. Honestly, I expected the usual “too cool to care” vibe, but nope—they were fantastic.
Cleanliness? Check. Great vibes? Double check. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be my go-to spot. Until then, I’ll just dream of that deep-dish deliciousness and plot my next visit.

I used to be a nostalgic fan of Pepe Delgados while occupied this space since I was a kid, therefore wh3n Benny’s popped in, I was reluctant to go in, as I had such great memories of Pepe’s. To my surprise, I really loved Benny’s! They did a great job of interior and vibe. Thy made it almost like a museum of interesting artifacts and signs, while preseeving the original theme of the previous decor. The food was fresh and delicious! It’s definitely worth a stop!

Ordered an antipasto salad and all meat pizza by the slice. Both were superb. The salad was piled high and so dense that you couldn’t toss the dressing in without losing some ingredients over the sides of the bowl. It was quite hearty, with plenty of pepperoni, salami and ham pieces to satisfy two people. I have nothing but good things to say about the pizza too. While pricey, the slices are dense with cheese, toppings and delicious marinara sauce poured over the top at the time of serving. Food quality made the extra wait time worth it. I’m glad we tried this pizza restaurant out.

We ordered a Hot N Funguy today with no mozzarella and light onion. Usually the pizza here is quite good even when cheese-less, but unfortunately this one was really sad. With a disappointing amount of sausage and sauce (which was cold at the corners of the pie) and undercooked dough which lacked the crispiness we’ve come to expect from here, it was clear that this one was a bit phoned-in and didn’t have enough time in the oven. Considering that I ordered two hours in advance for a specific pickup time, they dropped the ball, and unfortunately not worth the $25 this time.
Edit: Returned two days ago for a similar pizza order, plus half a dozen chicken wings in Korean sauce. Much better today so I’m bumping to 4 stars
Edit: Bumping to 5 stars after several consecutive revisits where the food was perfect

Benny’s makes the best pizza in the Central Coast, if you like thick crust / pan Detroit style pizza. I’ve eaten at the place in Detroit that invented the style and Benny’s does it better! I love the classic toppings like on the Hot-N-Fun-Guy and my wife loves the pies with exotic ingredients like pulled pork Benny’s pie on their chef’s specials. Also, don’t forget the wings! Ask for them extra crispy and you’ll be having the best wings in SLO! Well worth the trip from Santa Maria!

The best pizza I have had in a looooooong time. Detroit style deep dish with just enough crust, crispy and salty. They put the red sauce on top and it keeps everything fresh tasting and prevents the pizza from getting soggy. Try the veggie and order a cocktail from the bartender who created the clever menu herself. Fun and relaxed. We will be back.
