I had high hopes for Benito’s , especially since they just reopened, but my experience was really disappointing. I ordered a torta, a burrito, and a few tacos, but they forgot my burrito and gave me extra tacos instead. The torta also had the wrong meat, even though I was specific. I only realized all of this when I got home, so I didn’t even bother going back. I was still charged for the original order, even though I got less. For a reopening, this is a tough way to start, I hope they step up their game soon.

I went in today and red flag should have been that it was empty right after reopening. I ordered my burrito and told them I only wanted beans inside. They looked at me and froze like they were surprised that’s all I wanted in it. I got home and the asada is all chewy and so I couldn’t even eat the $9 burrito.

It’s not even authentic al pastor meat. The flavor was there but the meat texture was far away from authentic al pastor, the closest it got was from here to Mars. However, if I was ignorant of my meats then I would say the meat was good. It was juicy and tender. Still, I cannot express how it is not the quality to judge it against other tacos because it is oranges and apples difference. The place looked alright and I had people mean mugging me because maybe I didn’t fit the profile to eat there but that’s not the restaurant fault. Place looked unsanitary and well the rest is history. If you will order from here, order to go.

I also got what some call carne guisado, my family simply referred to this dish as carne con Chile
Pork stewed to become tender and smothered in spicy green tomatillo sauce.
Yes its in the Barrio, don’t worry about the looks for you gavachos (white folks)

I got the nachos and added carne asada. For $8+, I expected it to be topped with carne asada, refried beans, sour cream, shredded cheese, maybe even guacamole, like at a few other taquerias. They weren’t. They were gas station nachos with stale chips and had refried beans and carne asada added.
According to reviews, their tacos seems to be one of their strong suits. I’ll try those if I decide to eat there again.
