Reviews
Overall, we would give this place a very low rating for the entire experience. For it being our first visit, we were 100% disappointed. We went on Monday at 1:45 pm.
Food
We ordered the $29 duet, which included soup or salad, rice, two meats, and vegetables. I received about four small scallops, five shrimp, and a very small portion of vegetables. The cook was not friendly or interactive, which made the experience awkward. The food was not very tasty and was saltier than usual according to regulars. I had to ask for eel sauce and spicy mayo to improve the taste. The cooking order was uneven, with seafood served first and getting cold while we waited for rice, meats, and vegetables. Overall, the portion sizes and food quality were very underwhelming.
Service
This was our first visit, and although we made a reservation for the $15.95 power lunch, after being seated the server abruptly told us we were not at the correct table and asked us to get up and wait again, which was embarrassing. Out of the seven of us, four were first time guests, and the server did not explain the experience well. He also forgot my virgin strawberry mojito and was not very friendly. The regulars at our table shared that service and cooks are inconsistent. The four of us who were new all agreed that we did not enjoy the service from either the server or the cook.
When I asked to speak with a manager, the manager with black hair was defensive and dismissive and did not seem interested in listening to our concerns. Another manager with white hair was kind, listened carefully, and explained that he was new and would work on improving guest experience. He handled the situation much better.
Atmosphere
The staff did not seem happy or engaged, and the overall environment felt off. This place needs serious customer service training.
Someone mentioned there is another location nearby with a much better customer experience, and we do plan to try that location instead.
We prefer cooking our own food at K pot.
Food: obviously you can’t go in expecting authentic food, Benihana is more of an experience rather than traditional execution and the experience was magnificent. I think in terms of flavour it was lacking just a bit however I still found it pretty good. I think the drinks were pretty excellent. I tried the yakisoba and sushi lobster roll. I would recommend the yakisoba over the lobster roll in terms of getting more bang for your buck.
Service and atmosphere: Everyone is so incredibly nice and the chef was so funny. I think his name was Jayron. In terms of atmosphere even though there were quite a bit of people I didn’t find it overly loud at all.
We had a reservation and still waited nearly two hours to be seated and get food. Completely unacceptable. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, and the staff that was present seemed apathetic and disengaged. When we complained, we were told to “write to corporate,” which says it all.
The food is mediocre at best and not worth the price—or the wait. Charging extra for fried rice now is absurd. The hibachi show is the same tired jokes, phoned in with zero enthusiasm.
This place is coasting on its name alone. A once-fun concept that’s now poorly run, overpriced, and deeply disappointing.
