Came in for our family Christmas dinner.

I don’t know if the service is always so terribly slow, or if it was a holiday staffing issue, but everything took a VERY long time. Our server said they had 700 reservations for the day. The staff were very friendly and I appreciated them, but it took so long to get dinner even started.

I got the ocean treasure meal (lobster, scallops, and shrimp). The soup was delicious! I didn’t like the salad at all, the dressing doesn’t taste good to me. The zucchini was a bit mushy, but yummy. The fried rice and yum yum sauce are always tasty! My seafood was very delicious and well cooked. My whole family really enjoyed their meals. My husband got the wagyu and noticed that the portions shown before the meal were a lot larger than what they actually give you. The ice cream was very good too!

It was a good meal, but not for that price. We were confused about the service charge not going to the staff, but tipped extra especially since it was a holiday.

Also it’s sooo loud and cramped in there. You can’t talk to anyone at your table and it’s a bit overwhelming at times.

The good- Most of the hibachi food was good, the service was good and the show was good.

The bad- My ice cream was freezer burnt and the presentation of my sushi was depressing. I have had $5 rolls that look nicer than this… We couldn’t understand the cook well due to a language barrier. Chicken fried rice is eight dollars extra, it used to be $5. For the cost, you would expect more food than what we got considering we also had a $50 service charge that’s automatically added (20%). For hibachi and sushi in the future we will go elsewhere.

A disappointing and overpriced evening. For a $230 check, the St. Louis Park location felt tired, disorganized, and completely lacking in standards.

The execution was amateur at best. Our chef was noticeably uninterested, phoning in a low-energy performance that made the meal feel awkward rather than entertaining. The kitchen missed the mark on basics—my medium-rare steak arrived medium. The only bright spots were the cold beer and the fried rice, which remains the only consistent item on the menu.

The billing practices were equally tacky. Excessive surcharges piled up, followed by a server soliciting an additional tip on top of the auto-gratuity. It felt cheap and unprofessional.

We enjoyed having the table to ourselves for date night, but the drab atmosphere and lackluster service made it clear this location has given up. We won’t be back.

We celebrated my son’s tenth birthday here, and while he had fun, the rest of us were mostly laughing on the way home at how poorly the night went.

Once kids move past the age for this cruise ship style show, there is not much reason to return. It started with a rushed, impersonal check-in that felt more like a cattle call than a welcome. Dinner had multiple issues: missing ingredients, staff yelling across the kitchen for lighters and mushrooms, and to-go boxes handed out before we had even started eating.

Our waiter and chef were kind and trying, but the whole place felt chaotic and mechanical. For a bill close to five hundred dollars, it did not feel like a special occasion. It felt like we were being processed.

The twenty percent service charge, which in our case was over sixty dollars, was explained as not going to the staff. We were still expected to tip on top of that. It came off as management cost shifting.

The birthday boy had fun, which matters, but I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a quality experience.

We had an amazing experience at Benihana! The food was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. Our chef Christian was not only incredibly talented but also so entertaining and friendly … he really made the whole dining experience fun and memorable.
Our server Lydia was fantastic as well. She provided prompt, attentive service and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Both Christian and Lydia created such a welcoming atmosphere for us.
Highly recommend this location for great food, great service, and a great time.

It was so delicious! Definitely one of the better restaurants. You can be seated at a booth, for a little more privacy, or Infront of the grill. We chose the grill, which i wasn’t sure about sitting with 2 other groups of people at first but it ended up being a really great time. Bring a Large enough group you’d have the whole grill to yourself but it was just a little dinner with me and my significant other (not as intimate but still nice). Service was pretty good, I felt a little rushed by our waitress when ordering and the bathrooms were neglected was why I took away a star. We’re ended up paying $200 for for a “5 course” meal. The first course is a little bowl of soup, 2nd is a little bowl of salad, 3rd was cooked vegetables on the grill, 4th was the rice (my favorite!), and the 5th is the meat of your choice. Salad could have been way better for $200 so a little surprised at that but once the grill got started, it became all worth it! Kudos to the chefs because this place wouldn’t be what it is without them!

I love celebrating my birthday at Benihana! It is always a special treat! The food is amazing. I always get the Emperor’s Feast. The Filet is always cooked perfectly and their fried rice with yum yum sauce is to die for. Never change, Benihana!

We were 8 people for the birthday party. First table we were seated had AC dripping water on us. We were reseated. During habachi cooking vent over second table didn’t work and we were tearing from smoke. When we brought it up with our server we were told that the restaurant is very old and things like that happens very frequently. No apology or another reseating. Birthday boy was very disappointed. Do not recommend until they remodel the dated restaurant

I have been eating at the golden valley location for 30 + years back when it was samurai steak house. We ate there last night 2 people steak and shrimp two drinks each. Food was ok when the bill came they forced a 20 percent tip on us right off the top and asked for more. They added 60 dollars to the bill. We had no choice but to pay what a rip off 300 dollars 2 people for a 200 dollar plus’s tax meal. Never going back I would have given the 20 percent anyway but should not be forced to do so.

Big improvement from last year! Not only with the way they bill you, but they’re at least transparent that they add a 20% gratuity to every bill. Knowing that ahead of time is good because otherwise, you get sticker shock when you get the bill, and it doesn’t add up. Last year one I asked why it was so expensive when in my mind, it was about $20. More than it should have been. I believe it’s good business practice to be transparent that you are adding in the gratuity so people don’t walk away, feeling like it was so incredibly expensive that they never come back.

Transparency and honesty is always the best practice. Their food and their show are always amazing and entertaining! They do a great job. Thank you, and keep up the good work

And never stop making your shrimp sauce! It literally is almost to die for
