TRY THE PEPPERED SEARED WAGYU!!! Thee best Ive tasted so far!!! The food is super fresh and comes out perfectly made on a plate. If you like Kimchi you will love there tornado rice. The Tornado Omurice (a Japanese omelet over fried rice) and Creamy Sea Urchin Udon get as much praise as the raw fish.. Now the Lemon Rolll is soooo goood. I got so many recommendations for the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Tartare and the Deluxe Omakase Nigiri, which features premium cuts like Bluefin tuna and Uni. I will be back to try that. It is an intimate with a cozy, clean, and elegant aesthetic. It is perfect for a date night or a quiet dinner with friends.
The staff is “down to earth,” attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The server was super cool and actually talked to you and was friendly. Ill come back just for that. If you are in the Claremont or Rancho Cucamonga or ONTARIO area, Bengee Sushi is a top-tier choice for those who want high-end craftsmanship without the formal “upscale” pretension. It’s a spot where traditional nigiri meets modern, inventive Japanese comfort food.

I found this place after looking for something healthy in Ontario. Marcus was our server and was able to answer all our questions about the menu. He was funny and engaging and with all the customers. Food came super fast and it was well seasoned and cooked. If you come to the convention center check them out!

These 5 star reviews really made me ask: are we eating at the same Bengee sushi? I feel like these reviews are definitely rigged and the real ones are covered up. I came in 10 minutes before last call (arrived 8:40) to grab some dinner after finishing up class nearby. I was craving sushi and saw it had a 4.8 star-rating (should have known this was too good to be true for sushi in the IE) so I called in to see whether it was possible for me to come order some food for pickup. Since last order is at 8:50pm (10 minutes before closing) I thought they should accommodate since that’s the last call time they agreed on.
When I arrived, the lady at the front was just so flat with me. I get it—it’s near the end of the day, there’s no one at the restaurant, you must be tired and want to go home.. I felt bad too for coming in to order.. But then I remembered last order is at 8:50 and I’m well within that time. I ordered immediately and was told door would be done in 10-15 minutes, and left the place at 8:53 (7 minutes before closing).
Now the food. It was beautifully presented like what the pictures looked like in everyone else’s reviews. I got the premium chirashi and the mango roll. I was utterly gutted. Nothing was premium or good about either dish. The fish for the chirashi was a little bit smelly; the albacore was a bit fishy and mushy. But the real issue was how much sinew it had. The akami tuna was as vibrous as a root vegetable, and so was the salmon, which is insane! Imagine the shock I felt when seeing beautifully presented fish, only to bite into something that would cause anyone eating sushi an adverse reaction. This was just NOT the texture. The fish looked like it was cut fine but when you bite into it, it’s as if you’re biting into a fibrous lotus root or bamboo shoot. The only truly edible thing in the bowl was the small amounts of minced tuna and salmon, the hotate scallop, and the egg. I was truly disappointed because look at all these great looking photos! You too would be surprised to see it look this good only for it to be inedible. As for the roll it was very mid and the salmon also had some sinew in it too—that’s all I have to say about that. Maybe I chose a bad roll? But why would something bad be on the menu? Mind you, my total was near $50. I literally threw $50 down the drain and got Wendy’s chicken nuggets after because I was still hungry.
I think the takeaway for this place is that it’s bad. Please do something about it Bengee sushi. Was it because I came in 20 minutes before closing? Even though last call is 10 minutes before closing? Perhaps, oh I don’t know, change last call to 8:30, if you’re going to feed people trash? It shouldn’t matter it is lunch/dinner rush or it’s early/near closing; your food should be consistent at any time of day. And no one should have to pay that much for something worse than subpar food. You’re a sushi restaurant for crying out loud.
Filter the comments to the bad one and you’ll see recent bad reviews that don’t pop up on the surface. I wouldn’t be surprised if my comment gets buried. I’m sure their hot foods, other rolls, or eating in person (the storefront is nice and cute) could possibly be a better experience, but even this experience alone is enough to make me not want to go back.

I had a super salmon roll and tuna carpaccio. The food wasn’t bad, it was just average. The service was good though and there was plenty of parking.

The guy running the shop and taking orders was awesome! He was super helpful and down to earth. The food was great. The store atmosphere didn’t match the quality of food. It definitely felt like it needed a more upscale vibe because the food was that good! Will definitely go back again!

Fantastic food, a creative, diverse menu and wonderful staff. We loved the wide range of options—from the tornado omurice to A5 wagyu and the many uni style dishes. My family enjoyed every bite and wished we had bigger stomachs so we could try more things on the menu. We’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu!

Like the ambience, very cozy and chill. They were playing modern Japanese music which definitely fit and helped me relax. I like that this is a good option for eating alone to unwind and have some peace while enjoying good food. No complaints about the roll and appetizer I got, nothing extraordinary to note, but it’s basically what I was expecting when I ordered, and the quality was fresh. Since it’s a small establishment, the waiter was also the host/greeter and he was really chill and helped keep the atmosphere light while still being observant and attentive. I really appreciated that. Really felt taken care of and welcomed. Thank you to him, didn’t catch his name.

Really tasty sushi spot! Loved the omurice and the beef tartare — both were super flavorful. The sashimi platter was super fresh too . Cozy vibe ✨ great for both hangouts and date nights . Will definitely be back!
