I have been to this restaurant a few times over the years, but after last times poor service we begrudgingly decided to give it one more chance as our friends wanted to go. We had a table booked for 7pm on a Saturday night and in fairness it was busy. It probably took about 10mins before our order was taken, which is fine, that gave us plenty of time to get settled and decide what to order. We ordered our food and asked if we could have a bottle opener for our bottles of beer. We had to ask again for the bottle opener after about 15 mins as we had been forgotten. We waited and waited for the starters and after an hour even the waiter came up and asked if we’d had our starters yet and rushed off to chase them up for us. The starters then arrived, my wife asked if she could have a glass of tap water, to which she was told ‘no’!!!. I realise it’s not a legal requirement for them to provide tap water if it’s not licenced, but as we had been waiting over an hour just for the starters you would think that they would make a small attempt to keep us happy, but no. We finished the starters and then waited…..and then waited some more. After 2hrs since we arrived at the restaurant, I had to say something to one of the waiters, I basically told them that after the poor experience we had last time, we thought we would give them one last chance to redeem themselves, but we had now been here over 2hrs and the main course showed no signs of appearing. He went off to the kitchen and a couple of minutes later the food started to come out. Mine was really nice but my wifes was very average. We weren’t after any freebies, but at most decent restaurants we have visited in the past you would be offered something like free Poppadoms whilst you waited if there was going to be a delay, or perhaps offered a reduction in the bill, or a free dessert, just something as a token gesture to the customer…..that and not being given a free glass of tap water spoke volumes. It’s not about keeping the customers happy in this place, it’s just about taking your money, it really wasn’t a pleasant dining experience (again!!!!) and none of our party shall be going back again. Shame, we like to support local businesses, but it should work both ways.

Good place to eat. Very unique food with Mango Lassi in jug and real butter on the butter chicken. Bengali waiters were very nice would give him more stars if I could.

This is a fantastic authentic restaurant, the staff are lovely and the food is amazing. I had chicken rogan josh and my partner had the lamb shank which was out of this world and such a large portion. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

We have been here for a small holiday in York, but stay in the hotel at Wetherby for 3 days. We searched from Google and recommended this restaurant for the best Indian food. No wonder with those reviews. We came here for 2 days, so I would like to recommend who likes Indian food to come to this restaurant, you will definitely not be disappointed. Great food, good price, friendly staff and very delicious.

A by-chance visit, as the Days-Inn Wetherby services had leaflets on the reception desk. A quick Google review search made the decision to order a takeaway. So glad we did – the food was excellent.
I had the Tandoori Butter Chicken which was awesome, creamy on top and a nice medium spiced curry sauce with succulent chicken. Not had anything this unique before.
Badami Murgh also recommended – not as sweet as most nut based dishes end up being.

Wish there were more restaurants with this unique menu and taste down south! Thanks for a pleasant – mouth watering meal!

Had a fabulous Friday night dinner on way to airport. Never been before and the flavours were fantastic. Was in Gurkha York last week and that didn’t come near to this. Well deserved best curry, keep it up

Our server was so rude. Sorry I spilt something on menu. Snatched off me. Impolite taking order for food. Only polite when bill came. Tip!! Frequent visitor. Not any more. Last visit pretty abrupt too. Good food but practically thrown at table. Too rushed. Could pay more for better service elsewhere. Just slow down. Meant to come for a relatively relaxed meal. Waiters running about like they are on hot coals.
Staff need tuition on service. Table for 4 last night. 4 people left disappointed.
Learn how to serve and be polite.

Ordered a takeaway the other day for my wife and daughter. They really enjoyed their meal. The meals are good value for money and even better value if you pay cash. We’ll definitely be ordering again…

I’ve ordered from the Bengal Lounge in Wetherby for years, but tonight’s takeaway was a bit of a let-down. My garlic naan had a gritty texture — I like authentic, but not literally like it’s been made on the streets of Delhi.

The food itself just feels a bit bland these days, and prices seem to be creeping up each time. What also stood out was the lack of those little extras they used to throw in — no poppadoms, no small touches that made it feel special.

After years of being a loyal customer, I think it might be time to start looking at alternatives.
