This is an excellent, unpretentious fine dining restaurant. The service was brilliant – warm and friendly and attentive. We had the fantastic tasting menu with wine flight. Highly recommend. The food and wine were delicious. We added aperitif , cheese course with port and coffee / petit fours and the bill was around £260.

Absolutely amazing, you don’t go here to only eat, you go for an experience. The taster menu was a treat for my taste buds. Many flavours going on but it works. I imagine a huge amount of research and experimentation goes into these little work of art dishes. Picky eaters won’t appreciate it. The staff are friendly and extremely attentive. My only little niggle was it would have been nice to have a side of bread or potatoes, just to balance out the richness of the meats and sauces. If you are on budget save up, as the bill came to £181 for 2 people. It was our 3rd wedding anniversary so well worth it. I wouldn’t normally spend that much on a meal out unless it was a special occasion. But I would if I could!

They have the best lemon tart in the world! Traveled all the way from another side of the world for the lemon tart and it didn’t disappoint me. Very thin crust and the filling has the perfect balance of sour and sweet! We enjoyed every bite of it. Staff are super friendly and they really enjoy their job. The chef, Richard, is definitely the soul of this restaurant. We were so glad that we could have a little chat with him and knew about the stories. Thank you all and we had a great time here 🙂

Took my partner here for his birthday recently, and wow – what a beautiful restaurant. We both chose menu 1, I chose the vegetarian menu for myself.

The food was incredible, each plate was beautifully presented and a delight to the senses. Next time I think I’ll try the wine pairing too.

The staff were so friendly and knowledgable, dishes were served very quickly. We loved everything and would happily visit again in future!

Came here today for a birthday meal, firstly the staff were very attentive and the service was really great, we were a but presser for time but they managed to fit everything in smoothly. A nice touch was a little birthday card and some hand piped chocolate message on the desert plate.

The atmosphere was quite calm and relaxed however felt a little hard to describe other than mildly stiff and quiet at the same time (maybe just because we came as soon as they opened though)

The food was excellently executed and I dont have any complaints on its taste or technique but it felt very lacking in variety. For example I had the venison loin and whilst it was beautifully cooked it was literally 2 slices of loin with 1 carrot and a slice of pear! I was just expecting a bit more fantasy from such a highly regarded restaurant.

Im all for refined fine dining and do belive that quality over quantity is desirable but it just felt lacking in different components that could have been added to give it a bit more of a wow factor.

The cod was also beautifully cooked but again was just lacking on some extra components to really elevate it and give it that wow factor. I actively seek out michelin recommendations because I love the culinary arts and the experiences they offer. Usually it involves many things I could never have imagined of pairing together that come together on a plate to create something like ive never experienced before. But on this occasion it was quite literally 2 pieces of venison with 1 carrot and a slice of pear. Whilst it was cooked well it was just simply disappointing in terms of what I was expecting for the price point and the technical abilities of the chef.

Ive attached 3 photos.
1 was of my venison.
1 of the cod.
And another is of a zander dish (with the sauce pot on plate) I had in another restaurant that really highlights what im talking about in terms of introducing more components onto the plate to just elevate it up a notch.

Overall the food was cooked well and I have no doubt the chef is extremely talented. But the dishes just felt a bit bare and lacking that explosion of michelin recommended prowess.
The presentation of the venison was a bit sad and felt empty.

Id say the restaurant is definitely a place with the skills and ability to create good food but in my personal opinion I was just expecting a bit more of an experience on the plate but was met with 2 pieces of meat with 1 carrot and a slice of pear.

Thankyou for hosting us though and thankyou for the nice birthday details in the card and hand piped chocolate messages.

Beautifully put together menu, we went for menu 2. The rice cracker aperitif and lobster ravioli were our favourites. Service was attentive without being too much. One of the gems of the Norwich food scene.

Me and my partner came here the other night. On arrival we were greeted and taken to our table. The restaurant has a lovely cosy and romantic feel to the place. The food was so well executed and presented. We went for the 5 course, plus cheese board. We were very satisfied with everything we both wished we had gone for the 8 course menu just to see what else they could offer. The port and cocktails also were perfect for the occasion.

Highly recommend and we will be back for another date night!

To wrap up my girlfriend’s 30th, we went to Benedicts, and it honestly blew us away. We had the 9-course tasting menu, and every dish was a standout. Beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly well thought out, each course flowed nicely into the next.

The staff were brilliant too. Friendly, professional, and never overbearing, they really helped make the night special.

Meant to write this review a while back, it’s been some time now, we still think about that meal every now and then, and plan to go back soon.

We visited Benedict’s to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday last and l have to say what a truly unforgettable experience.
The service was nothing short of exceptional. Attentive yet discreet, the staff anticipated every need with grace and professionalism, adding a personal touch.

And the food an absolute triumph. Each course was a celebration of flavor and artistry. From the delicate starters to the perfectly balanced mains and the exquisite dessert finale, every dish was thoughtfully crafted and immaculately presented. Ingredients were fresh, seasonal, and elevated in the most thoughtful ways.

Benedicts is more than a restaurant it’s an experience. A place where culinary excellence meets impeccable hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone seeking something truly special.

My oh my, what a first class establishment we are blessed to have in Norwich!
The service was exemplary as staff knew the answer to every question we asked. They handled my allergy with professionalism and zero fuss. And all so young, a real asset to the team here.
We really liked the option of picking the paired wines by the glass, as some people don’t want the full flight.
Now how to describe the food… imaginative, delicious, quality, beautiful. We are still talking about it a week later.
A must visit for a special occasion.
