We were lucky to get the only table outside. Also, they happened to be BYOB with no corkage fee; we got FitVine pinot Grigio from a store down the street. The service was very friendly. They brought us nice sour dough bread. Then we ordered tuna with arugula, salmon steak and pappardelle with shrimp – all were delicious. The location was also perfect for our group of 4; there was action on the block but not as crowded and loud as the places on the blocks nearby, so we could enjoy our own conversation. Would definitely return.

Dining at Belmonte’s in Brooklyn was an unforgettable experience! This 125-year-old historic restaurant in Brooklyn feels like stepping into a warm family home. The owner, Anita, personally greeted us and made sure we had a perfect table, which set the tone for an incredible evening. The staff was so engaging, sharing stories about the restaurant’s rich history, making us feel like family. The food? Absolutely top-notch—every dish was Michelin-star quality, bursting with authentic Italian flavors. The service was impeccable, attentive, and genuinely warm. If you’re looking for the best Italian dining in Brooklyn, Belmonte’s is a must-visit gem! Highly recommend for anyone craving exceptional food and a welcoming atmosphere.

Great old style Italian restaurant in the heart of Cookman Avenue. My Rigatoni Augusto were yummy. The name of the restaurant reminded me of the title character in Mozart’s “Abduction from the Seraglio.” Nice outdoor dining and efficient quick service. BYOD but a liquor store is half a block away. Reasonable prices. They have gluten-free pasta.

I’ve eaten at Belmonte’s many times over the years, and while some things thankfully haven’t changed — the perfect downtown Asbury Park location and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere — something felt off during my most recent visit.

We had a 6:45 p.m. reservation and were surprised to find the restaurant completely empty. Only two other tables arrived after 8:00 p.m. Our bread was warm and the appetizers were just as good as I remember, but the main courses missed the mark. My pasta’s red sauce looked burnt and tired, lacking the usual flavor, and the chicken parm tasted bland and unappealing.

This isn’t the Belmonte’s I remember, and I’m hoping it was just an off night (or perhaps a change in ownership). On a positive note, the staff was attentive, and the food did come out fast and hot. I’ll give it another try in the future, but I do hope to see the quality return to what it once was.

The weather was wonderful for dining outside. The restaurant was busy with very few wait staff but the service was adequate and food came out hot and faster than we expected. Monday and Thursday pasta half price with great portion!

A big “eh”. They should be a great place with a great location. But looks to me that they are coasting and maybe hoping to get bought out.. I’ve had better Italian food at hole in the wall places in strip malls. There was an issue with the meal and, other than the waiter, NO ONE came to discuss. Not an owner, not a manager, not even a cook’s assistant. I cannot recommend this place. There are plenty of decent restaurants in the area. Take your pick.

Fantastic old school Italian joint off cookman. Easy to get too and parking is easy to find (in the off season). BYOB. Atmosphere is dark but cozy. Staff is incredibly friendly and the menu has a ton of options, we went the seafood rout with the shrimp scampi and linguini with clam sauce. Shrimp scampi was the best of the two, very flavorful. Linguini with clam sauce was no slouch the amount of fresh clams was incredible and I only had one which was sandy. Overall two delicious dishes combined with great service I will definitely be back here in the future

We had a nice meal. I had a chicken dish and my husband had a pork chop dish… Both were just exactly what we wanted and how we like it… How often does that happen!? The service was timely and our waiter was attentive. We split a tiramisu for dessert… Perfect! I am so glad we tried Belmontes. We will be back because there were so many items we’d have liked to try… Thank you!

I’m sorry to say but our experience here was very disappointing. We visited on a busy weekend evening following the annual Zombie Walk so the entire street was buzzing with people and each establishment was busy. When we saw how packed Belmontes was we assumed they must be really good and from the sidewalk the food smelled delicious. Sadly, it had no flavor. Everything was bland. The chicken parm was tough, overcooked and flavorless. Service was unattentive. With the plethora of options for Italian dining along the shore there is no reason to ever give Belmontes another try.
