I’ve been told many times to try Bellflower and tonight was finally the night! Everyone was friendly and our server was amazing! The food was flavorful and delicious. We loved the tinned fish appetizer. The combination of bread with fish was delicious. We also got a few orders of oysters and shrimp. All the seafood was super fresh. I loved the seashell pasta dish. Dave makes the best fresh pasta! The Chowder was also amazing. The shrimp was perfectly tender and the roasted vegetables were a great addition. Loved our meal! Can’t wait to come back!

This was our first time dining at Bellflower in Ypsilanti, and it more than lived up to its stellar reputation. I enjoyed a fantastic plate of pork chops with crispy sweet potatoes and mixed vegetables—comforting, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My daughter ordered the crispy whole cornmeal trout with milk bread stuffing, topped with a sunny side up duck egg. The dish was both surprising and delicious, and a highlight of the night. We started with a selection of East and West Coast oysters—fresh, briny, and expertly shucked—and ended with their warm, rich bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Every course felt thoughtful and impressively executed.
The service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Even on a freezing night, the outdoor patio was surprisingly pleasant. The food was so good we decided to take two Turkey gumbo‘s to go to enjoy later. For a first visit, Bellflower left a great impression. We’ll definitely be back.

Great little restaurant! We were driving through the area and stopped for lunch. We were unsure of how fancy we should be dressed, based on reviews, but while the food itself was pretty fancy, it was a fairly informal lunch counter. We did not feel out-of-place in our traveling clothes. I’m sure dinner could be beautifully high-class, however, in such a setting.
The outside of the restaurant did not look like much, but the inside was very contemporary. The seating areas were very cute, especially the outdoor patio.
I had the daily special “Purple Haze,” and it was delicious! Such a great pairing of flavors, and their milk bread is delicious! My companions liked their sandwiches and salad too.
We came around 1 pm and ordered and ate in about an hour.

Bellflower is a cool experience! It’s a really cool restaurant with a great environment and ambiance. Bellflower has a smaller menu and it’s rotating. This can be a little tricky when seeing if it’s a place that you’d like. If you’re open to trying things, I think it could be a cool place! However, if you’re a pickier eater, it could be a bit unpredictable. At this time, the menu was pretty seafood heavy. So, if you don’t like seafood, it might have been tough. I haven’t had a lot of different seafood, but, I’m open to trying anything! I was intrigued by the Seafood Boil so I decided to give it a try! It was pretty solid. Quite a bit of food and it was all pretty good. I’ve actually never had a seafood boil so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But food was pretty solid. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well! Great service as well!

Bellflower has one of my favorite happy hours in the area. They make their own fresh breads and sandwiches during lunch and have a changing menu for dinner. Their salads and appetizers are always so innovative! I still crave the turnip dish and hope they can bring it back again. The cocktails are also perfectly balanced. Their seafood dishes are always fresh, including the oysters. The service is kind and attentive.

I have only been here once before when they first opened. I was blown away then and I’ve been dying to come back since. This little local gem has yet to disappoint. I’ve now tasted 4 plates and 2 appetizers. The flavors always marry so well. I always look at the menu and think hmm sounds interesting, but those angel chefs know what they’re doing. One of my favorite places and I’m glad I got share a meal with my mother, who also raved about every dish we tried. She also said the drinks were phenomenal. Keep up the great work. And to the owners, thank you for always being so kind and gracious. Our server was perfect as well. See you next time!

This is the most sophisticated date or special occasion restaurant in Ypsilanti. I’ve had one or two dinners here that I didn’t love, but last night, my whole party loved the meals, including dessert. The perch I had was perfection. My friends loved their vegetable curry, and we all enjoyed the bread pudding w whipped cream dessert. The menu changes often, if not daily. While hard-core foodies might notice errors on some things, like not detaching the oyster from the shell, it’s still a place one can get oysters in Ypsi that taste good. The atmosphere is terrific. The service last night was perfect. Be prepared for a big bill, but sometimes it is worth it to have a fancy evening out.

Bellflower impresses with its upscale ambiance and beautifully crafted dishes, each plate feels like a small work of art. The flavors are bold and inventive, and service is warm without being overbearing. The craft cocktails are well executed. One downside is that despite having a reservation for a party of 12, they were unable to sit our party together. Check out the pictures associated with this review and follow on IG @ifooditravel

My friend Mike and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We had West Coast Oysters (creamy, delicately flavored, paired well with fresh lemon slice and a house made garlic shallot sauce on the side) the other appetizer was the goat cheese plate also very nice. Our mains pan fried trout and yellow perch on a wonderful etouffe. I haven’t had such a rich, deep dark roux in years. Delicious. I have to admit the perfectly cooked trout was hands down the best of both of them.
With a rotating menu it’s hard to recommend food but you can count on great bread, oysters, and trout. I will be back because the chef pairs no, compliments the plated protein so delicately all flavors are present.

Bellflower will always be that girl, I only wish there were more vegetarian options other than the one same curry every time, and changing up some other items like the dessert. I appreciate that the staples like chicken, pork, seafood change up based on what’s seasonal to pair with them, but if you’re a local the formula can start to lose its appeal. I miss seeing their daily insta post and feeling excited to see what’s new, but if you don’t love meat for every meal, there’s less of a reason to go as often. That being said, the cocktails, mussels, oysters, bread, service, and atmosphere always bring me back. I love them always ♥️
