UPDATE:
I’ve gone back a few times since our first visit, and I’ve since appreciated the fact that this little bakery reigns in the realm of not-so-sweet pastries. I’m not into super sweet things, and this Asian bakery is one of few bakeries in this area that manages to do that well while also keeping costs surprisingly reasonable (Tous Les Jours in the Little Ferry is the other closest one, but breads there cost an arm and a leg).

Most recently, I was elated to find a peanut butter cream bread, a childhood favorite that I’ve not found in any bakery since the last time I had one (more than a decade ago). Studded with peanuts and filled with an almost savory-sweet whipped peanut butter cream, it’s my new favorite.

We’ve encountered different workers during each visit, and each interaction is more pleasant than the last. This past time, we dropped by to get a single item and the guy behind the counter (possibly the owner?) threw in several free pastries. It’s possible he intuited that the best way into this Yelper’s good favor is through free food, but I’m happy to report they were all fantastic – pillowy-soft breads with just-right sweet toppings or fillings.

I’ve been waiting for this bakery to open since I moved into the area and saw the coming-soon signs on the door. Ridgefield Park doesn’t have too many French-style bakeries, so I made a beeline as soon as I saw the lights were on inside.

Belle Journee has two other thriving locations that I know of – one in Fort Lee and the other in Palisades Park. This newest location seemed to still be in its soft opening stages when I visited since they weren’t yet offering drinks of any kind and the shelves were only half full of product. Still, there were a lot of enticing options and it took my husband and I quite a few minutes to decide on something called a chestnut mammoth bread. Imagine my surprise when I found out this bread was only two dollars! I’m not sure if the woman at the counter rang up the wrong item, or if this was some grand opening special, but to get such an elaborate baked good for two singles seemed like a lucky draw.

It’s pretty spacious inside, but there’s no place to sit or enjoy purchased goodies as of yet. Hopefully that’ll be something that comes in soon, since it was near torture to wait all the way until we got home to dig into our bread (which was decadence incarnate – a soft bread studded with crunchies and large, sweet chestnuts, filled with a red bean spread and cream on the inside).

I’ve been here a couple times and honestly never been disappointed, I love their baked goods given the fact they are not deadly sweet and still are considered indulgent delicacies, at least from my perspective. I had a mango pastry that I don’t know the name of (I’m very adventurous and random with my likes) and I can say I don’t regret… But it’s always the same way in this spot, they recommend you some good takes and also give you some pastry so you can try for free, such a great experience and my mom loves to go here given the fact they speak Spanish too! Keep up the good work!

It seems like this place is running as baking factory for other Belle Journee locations. Not so much bread and variety as other location such as Palisades Park, which is main for this franchise.

I highly recommend the bakery in Ridgefield park. The the breads and pastries are unique and delicious, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is clean and calm. They closed for several months, then reopened on 10/1/25. I hope they succeed long term!
