It’s a lovely, tiny little spot, seating maybe 35 people. The menu is mostly Italian, with an extensive wine and cocktail list.
We started with the Arancini and French onion soup, which were both stunning. Absolutely perfectly executed. Crispy exterior and creamy interior on the Arancini with a perfectly balanced sauce. And the soup had a depth of flavor you don’t often get from a restaurant, with perfect salt levels and acidity.
The mains were a little bit less magical; we had the Chicken Saltimbocca and the Scallops over risotto. I think partially the problem was by the time the mains arrived, we had been there 90 minutes and had started to get full.
They pace the meal slowly. I believe this is an effort to encourage the feeling that you can stay a while, like family. But for me personally, it felt a bit sluggish. That’s preference though, just be aware.
The reason I had to knock off one star is an important one: they lost my reservation. I placed a reservation for an anniversary dinner, which was confirmed over the phone. Luckily, as we went on a Monday, we were still able to get the last table. But if we had planned to go on a weekend, that misstep could have easily ruined the night.
Overall, it’s a beautiful little gem and much better than a lot of what Simi Valley has to offer, it’s just a shame that hospitality snag loomed over our experience.
Anyway, my wife had the prawns with seafood risotto and that was good. We also shared the pear salad and we enjoyed that very much. The bread was definitely a highlight, and the drinks were good plus I appreciated that the drinks had holiday themes and flavors.
I will say I am looking forward to trying the Chilean sea bass and chicken parm.
The food at Bella’s Bistro is exceptional. Every dish is crafted with care, combining fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and just the right touch of creativity. Whether you’re savoring a comforting entrée, sharing appetizers with friends, or indulging in dessert, you can feel the passion behind each plate.
What truly sets Bella’s apart, though, is the people. Cristina, Armando, Adriana, Cesar, Kelly, Bella, and Nick bring such warmth and energy to the bistro that you feel like part of the family the moment you walk in. Their attentiveness, kindness, and genuine care turn a great meal into an unforgettable experience.
Bella’s Bistro isn’t just a place to eat—it’s the heart of the community. With amazing food, incredible hospitality, and a welcoming vibe, it’s the kind of spot you’ll want to return to again and again.
