I went to beet box when passing through Columbia on a road trip over six months ago and I still think about how good the food was. It’s a four hour drive from me and I frequently consider it just to go back there. Pictured here is a black garlic biscuit breakfast sandwich (i think? it was over six months ago) and a cardamom coffee muffin cake thing (again, over six months ago). Anyway, whether you live nearby or need somewhere to eat when you’re on the road, this is worth the trip. yummy stuff.

Drove up from St. Louis to come back to this place. It’s incredible.

They nailed the za’atar fries, the black garlic biscuit, and I added chicken shawarma to my breakfast burrito. I would consider getting a tent outside as a vacation home – that’s how much I enjoy Beet Box. Bet your bootys I’ll be back again to get beet up.

The food is ridiculously delicious. The employees are super nice and proud of what they serve. Inside is great but they have a small shaded patio area that was so relaxing. The meals are spectacular and so are their fresh baked goods. Excellent espresso options! I will eat here every time I’m in town.

I have never had a visit here that was anything less than stellar. This is one of those places that I drag friends to when they visit town, and it’s my personal favorite breakfast destination in Columbia. Quality is consistent, staff are always warm and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is just generally pleasant. I’ve dined in, walked in, and ordered online, and service was equally good across all options. The black garlic biscuit sandwich and the bacon egg and cheese bodega are both so substantial that I usually have half for breakfast and half for lunch, and I always leave with something from the baked goods case even if I’m not planning to when I walk in. The cardamom cake with espresso icing that sometimes appears on the menu is in the top three best things I’ve ever consumed. I’ll catch it again one of these days…

Fun and unique hidden gem.
I ordered a pastry item only, but I’ll be back to try a breakfast or lunch item. I ordered the ‘tiramisu donut’. It was very unique and I don’t think I’ve had anything like it before. Very light with a spongy feel but then drizzled and stuffed with tiramisu goodness. It was a heavenly experience. Each month they have new donut flavors and the tiramisu donut is a special for the month of June. They close at 2pm, so this is a breakfast and lunch only establishment. I can’t wait to try their other menu items.

This restaurant is easily the best thing to ever happen to Columbia, Missouri. The chicken shawarma…. TO DIE FOR. Plus I always look forward to going on Fridays for the new donut of the month flavor. The prices are fair for a reflection of the fresh and locally sourced ingredients they use; You can really taste the difference. If you’re going: TRY THE FRIES, and ask what cool new syrup flavors they have (handmade) for coffee. That’s all my advice!

Service and the atmosphere were great! We sat outside and it was super nice! However, this time around the food was hard to enjoy, especially for the price. I had a single French toast that was burnt and came with no other toppings, making it hard to finish alone. My sister also got the French toast and she had a difficult time finishing it. And then my partner had the other meal pictured. We were expecting a lot more food for the $20 we paid and it was all okay.

Beet Box was just not for me. i got one of their bowls and honestly it was insulting. Not a grain in sight. A dollop of yogurt, a dollop of hummus, some chicken and uncut romaine lettuce leaves in a bowl does not a bowl make. I have given a mid score since it could have also been because of the menu item I ordered. I am aware that the food was well made and that Beet Box is a Columbia staple that many people enjoy. I have enjoyed their catering menu at events in the past and so was not satisfied with my experience as a singular patron. The service was good and the atmosphere has an eclectic charm, so I adjusted the score to reflect that.

My meal (hummus bowl) was fresh, flavorful, and well composed of vibrant components. The interior was vibey and had a great atmosphere. They sell fun drinks, serve a small and attainable menu, and the staff performed great customer service. What a gem!

High marks for this one of a kind gem of a restaurant! My wife and I love to try restaurant we’ve never been to before. Heard good things about it, but never took the time to try it. Finally the day came and we had lunch there and let me tell you we were very impressed! The food was excellent along with great service made the experience the best! We will definitely be back soon!
